Confusion about cellular solns30 Nov 2008 18:26 GMT6
I've been trying to understand how cellular communicators work, and I have
to admit, I'm a bit confused.  From what I can tell from reading through the
docs on the different suppliers (ie: Teleguard, Uplink, etc), they
communicate via GPRS over GSM.  Which sounds reasonable given ...
Revere 44 Watt Siren30 Nov 2008 02:27 GMT10
This used to be my goto when an extra loud siren was needed for an
application.  Very noticeably louder than the 30 watt sirens everybody  else
makes.  I was told earlier this week that Revere no longer makes it.  What
is a good alternative?
Ademco/Honeywell Galaxy Panel protocols30 Nov 2008 02:22 GMT5
Any one know if (and where) you can download protocol information for the
galaxy range of control panels (galaxy classic 8,16,60,500,512 etc and the
later G2 and G3 panels, they seem to use the same keypads/rios etc so
probably same protocol)

False alarms with DSC wireless keyfob26 Nov 2008 03:04 GMT8
Has anyone heard of this problem before ? I have a client with four
keyfobs (WLS919-433), one of which shows a low battery when dialing in
with DLS software (customer has a DSC Power 832 with the usual
wireless module on the bus). The client put the unit in a drawer and

100+ year old house he's furbin.  I have used several DSC's and one 832,

XM10 Powerhouse question25 Nov 2008 20:12 GMT3
I would like to use an XM10 device to control my X10 network.
However, I would like to use it connected to a personal computer
instead of via a electronic means, such as a home alarm system's
control panel.  Have anyone attempted this? Where could I find more
how to encrypt entire drive?24 Nov 2008 18:43 GMT3
Hiya
I need some encryption software to do file, folder and hard
drive encryption, with tools like TrueCrypt I can create only
encrypted drives, but I want to encrypt single files and folders

Availability of CAA6623 Nov 2008 23:05 GMT11
Normally I would post this on comp.home.automation but there seems to be
very little activity there so I'll try here.  I'm looking for a Russound
CAA66 Audio system with white KP6 controllers.  Any suggestions of reliable
sources to get it?  I've googled but just come up with ...
Lets try something .... again.23 Nov 2008 22:37 GMT71
I think it rather unique that this suggestion comes from me, but
perhaps it's best that it does.
Rather than respond to all of the garbage that seems to be
accumulating in that other thread, I thought I'd try something.
Napco clock drift19 Nov 2008 05:27 GMT12
I've had a Napco Magnum 1000 for about 16yrs already.  Overall, the system
works perfectly well - everything it was setup/designed to do is precisely
the way it works. Except for one thing.
The daily phone verification has a problem and has always had this problem
Moose Z1100 and DSL19 Nov 2008 04:46 GMT13
Hi, I have a Moose Z1100 that I installed about 20 years ago. I
recently installed DSL service on the phone line and now have problems
with the panel. The panel dials out to the central station, but the
station never receives any alarm codes. I had a tech come out from the
