ISC East Rollcall30 Sep 2006 23:04 GMT43
I was under the impression that the ISC show was for the trade  ....
only.
I never noticed any applications that offered attendance to the public
or "consumers".
Per Hour Charge29 Sep 2006 16:26 GMT27
I'm curious as to the average "per hour" charge on a CCTV install?  Is it by
the individual job or is it by the complexity, etc.?
Is that a legitimate question to ask an installer, "How much do you charge
per hour?", or is that just too open ended a question.
I give up29 Sep 2006 07:39 GMT19
One of my accounts suddenly misses a daily timer. I call the customer; "Oh,
we had digital telephone service installed. And, oh, by the way, the
"technician" said "the alarm wasn't hooked up right."
Sooooo, your alarm system has sent signals daily since 1989, and

I wish this was fiction28 Sep 2006 04:09 GMT14
Why is it that people will spend tens of thousands of dollars for newer
cars, televisions, stereo equipment, computer upgrades, golf clubs,
furniture, and every other bobble or goody but they have no issue using
a prehistoric system, or some DIY crapola they bought on Ebay to

Why I Don't Do Service for Other Companies26 Sep 2006 14:51 GMT27
Ok...  I admit it.  I have once or twice.  It always bites me in the a.s.
The latest one was a joke.
Company X calls me and says, can you help us out we are a small company with
a few accounts in Yuma.  I should said no.  They are an ex-ADT dealer with
Safewatch Pro 200026 Sep 2006 14:48 GMT13
Ok, I was doing a search a while ago trying to find out how to disable a
door sensor and put a motion in its place. I found someone had said to put
in a code and go from there, after powering off the unit. I did as it said,
now there is nothing on the display. It's just used as a ...
Free monitoring? up to an hour.26 Sep 2006 00:51 GMT2
I always prefer the paid monitoring because I'm almost sure to have
help if I need it!
I found a very nice one (they answer you very fast!) and they have a
free account up to hour monitoring or a trial version for 15 days where
Wireless Alarms25 Sep 2006 16:08 GMT11
A while back I looked at wireless options that had the xmiter buried in the
door jam and not an external box.  Anyone recall who makes them and what
their track record is?
Thanks
PIR Motion Detectors24 Sep 2006 16:42 GMT18
Does anyone know if it is possible to circumvent a motion detector with
hairspray?  I am assuming this would work with a dual technology motion
as well because it takes both technologies to trip.  Please let me
know.  Thanks
Fire Alarm Rant23 Sep 2006 00:31 GMT2
We recently took over a building that had been "serviced" by a company kind
enough to leave a record of work orders inside the main control unit
(Mirtone 790) located in the parkade electrical room.  The property manager
gave them 30 days to fix the "trouble" on the system and then ...
