User installed systems06 Jan 2006 21:57 GMT7
I have an FBII XL-2 alarm system that is not working.  I am fairly sure that
the main circuit board has a problem.  I intend to replace it and am willing
to also replace the keypads.  It is a rather simple 6-zone system.  I am not
interested in an external monitoring service.  ...

Reliability of glass breakage listening devices06 Jan 2006 19:41 GMT11
The local consumer magazine in Washington DC says of glass breakage
listening devices "A recent study by the Association of Central
Monitoring Stations declared these devices unreliable".
I can't find a date on the article, so I checked the web site of the
Inexpensive panel recommendations06 Jan 2006 02:10 GMT1
I'm looking for an inexpensive, reliable wireless panel to use in a very
basic operation.  Only needs to transmit two zones, but needs to be able to
function in more than one story (just residential) without repeaters, etc...
Thanks for any feedback....
Convert CCTV to Digital06 Jan 2006 00:36 GMT15
I have a question about converting CCTV to a digital signal.  The
current setup is four cameras that connect to a multiplexer and then to
a VCR in the store (downstairs).  It is also connected to two monitors
that display the four camreas on the same screen, one in the store the
Simon 3 and Uplink 150005 Jan 2006 15:38 GMT3
Hey guys, long time no see.
Question...Is the Uplink 1500 compatible with the GE Simon 3? Has
anyone actually used this combination? A prospective customer has, and
wants to keep his Simon, but wants to add cell backup. While I know
Honeywell 60 / DSC PC155005 Jan 2006 04:09 GMT17
I bought a resale home and the homeowner left her previous alarm system
setup.     If possible, I would like to have a second keypad for this alarm
system at another entry way.
The alarm system is a Honeywell 60.   I couldn't find anything about it on
Girsh Alarm in Philly, PA lousy treatment of potential employee05 Jan 2006 01:39 GMT22
In late October I was looking around on Monster.com at which time I
came across Girsh Alarm Company, a local Philadlephia company serving
mostly commercial accounts and offering potential earnings of 75-100k
per year.
Help identifying system04 Jan 2006 08:05 GMT1
Sorry if this post is off topic.
I recently conducted a war dial as part a security audit of
modems connected to our companies telephone lines.
While I was able to identify most of the systems found there
I'm gonna get robbed...04 Jan 2006 06:34 GMT8
It is just a question of when.  I live in an improving area with some
section 8 housing.  I have a single metal door with deadbolt access  on the
second story of an older home.  I just got divorced and am short on cash
thus the digs.  I am electronically savvy and would like a ...
System Rec for small business04 Jan 2006 06:23 GMT2
The shop where I work appeared to have had a break-in attempt over the
holiday weekend and the owner asked if I would post to get opinions on
the best type of system to get for an auto repair shop?
The person(s) who attempted to breakin did so by trying to push in a
DSC Encore PIR04 Jan 2006 05:16 GMT2
I have a DSC alarm system with 3 Encore (EN-301D?) PIR's. I had asked for
pet friendly sensors but these ones clearly aren't and have been quoted an
exorbitant price to have them replaced. Can anyone tell me if they actually
need replacing or is this a selectable feature?
why ground an alarm panel.04 Jan 2006 05:01 GMT137
I was just answering a post for someone on another group regarding how
to ground a CATV line and it got me thinking.  Ademco panels all have a
screw that they want tied to earth ground.  I've never seen a
residential install that had that wire attached.  Why have it?  why do
Obsolete or not????03 Jan 2006 14:41 GMT10
I have a cousin in another state and she has a FA-1220C.  Does anyone know
if this system is obsolete or if parts, keypads, wireless expander is still
availability for this model.  I thought it might be an Ademco panel made for
First Alert, but was a modified Vista 10 or 20.
