Never had an alarm before but...15 Jan 2006 04:57 GMT36
I'm just beginning to research home security systems.
It is quite bewildering, and salespeople are not much use as a source
of unbiased information, to say the least.
I've not had much luck finding a place on the internet where I can read

Q: How to use an inductive probe?14 Jan 2006 18:23 GMT7
Our door bell stopped working a few months back and I've been trying to
figure out what might be wrong. The doorbell button has a built-in
light which is off now. I replaced it with a new button and the new
button doesn't light either. That led me to check the voltages at the

Hey Robert Campbell12 Jan 2006 23:37 GMT20
Just finished two more of those systems you hate.  Five year contracts at 80
and 90 a month respectively.  The customer specifically asked for it that
way.  I'm jsut glad I can afford to carry these installs for him.  Sure
helps out my monthly figures.
hello I have an alarm problem12 Jan 2006 19:35 GMT7
It started when the council workmen came and fitted UPVC windows in my flat.
They just smashed off all the door and window sensors saying the alarm
company would have to fix proper UPVC type sensors. Well the job was
finished apart from the alarm, after a week or 2 I rang the ...
Phone Jack Locations?12 Jan 2006 14:54 GMT11
I'm curious about what the experts around here have to say about having the
phone jack either in or on the panel.  Or, I guess, not using one at all.
I'm not sure if it's a UL requirement to have it easily available, but it
seems like a huge hole in the system's integrity.

We are a Wholesale Monitoring Center for the Dealers.  We write our own

Newbie requests assistance on alarm selection11 Jan 2006 06:00 GMT3
I am considering a Honeywell/Ademco Vista 20 PI (non monitored to start.   I
intend to add some wireless features to it later.
My question is....  Is this a good system to use?  My homework seems to say
