Down Payments?31 Aug 2005 22:44 GMT12
Our contracts state that we will receive a 50% down payment upon signing
with the balance billed after completion. Today, a new customer (who already
signed the contract and sent a large downpayment since it's a big job)
called very upset about the practice. He said no other ...
CPI Security?31 Aug 2005 22:41 GMT8
I applied two weeks ago to have CPI Security come out to my house and install
one of their burglar alarm systems.  They have a base system that they'll
install for free but then they snag you with add-ons to run up the bill.  I
needed about $240 worth for which I wrote them a check.
=>The wireless alarm OWL will wake you up31 Aug 2005 22:00 GMT1
Wireless is FAILING during Radio Frequency Interferences (RFI) and
there will be no sign of it to you or the central station.
Imagin If YOU had a wireless alarm system with a sensor signal loss
detection circuit who would be used for RFI detection acording to
Need instructions to program zones into Regency 472031 Aug 2005 17:39 GMT1
Hello again,
I have to reprogram my system and add back all the zones.  Does anyone have
instructions for adding zones?
I have the 4724 board installed, so I have menus on the keypad not the hex
Audio Detector?31 Aug 2005 16:22 GMT4
My home has 3 "audio detectors" built into the walls.  I'm not sure of
the manufacturer, but I'm trying to find out what these things do.
They look similar to wired glass breaks, but they appear to be much
more sensitive to glass breaks, but they don't necessarily trigger

CCTV Cameras31 Aug 2005 11:25 GMT53
A cctv camera will never provide good quality because the resolution,
sensor chip and lens quality are nowhere near as good as a digital
stills camera.
So connect a digital stills camera to your laptop or pc and you will
Wireless receiver - computer problem?31 Aug 2005 05:27 GMT54
Just bought my Ademco wireless receiver. The literature says to avoid
interference, it shouldn't be put within 10 feet of a computer. Is this for
real? I have three computers in the house so I'd have to put the panel out
in the back yard. Don't tell me Polly was correct about ...
Aritech Attender30 Aug 2005 15:55 GMT4
Status light is flashing. I am assuming this is showing a bypassed zone (?).
How do I get the caller to get this panel back to a solid ready light.
System arms and disarms and all else seems normal accept the front door does
not trigger. Again, I am assuming zone 1 is bypassed or am ...

Help on alarm30 Aug 2005 12:41 GMT12
I am planning to install a Paradox Digiplex in my three floors house. I
have some questions for the experts...
1.    Can dual tech pir/motion sensors be installed in the same room one
opposite to the other or this is likely to be a cause of false alarms?
Webcam vs. composite Camera30 Aug 2005 09:02 GMT3
Anyone can vouch for the quality between Webcam vs. composite feed camera?
I'm in the initial planning stage of a Linux-PC-based PVR and need to
roll out additional cameras.
The cost effectiveness of extended a USB webcam using a pair of
Please Help: I'm stranded30 Aug 2005 08:59 GMT8
I recently lost the keys to my car along with my car alarm remote. I
purchased my '92 Celica from a used card dealer and it already had an
alarm on it, installed by the previous owner and not the manufacturer.
It is a Pursuit alarm.
Napco Wireless???30 Aug 2005 05:14 GMT6
Napco claims their wireless sensors have better range than ITI's stuff...
I'm thinking about switching to Napco, they seem to give a damn about the
small dealer unlike GE & Honeywell... Complaint Mode On: GE's stuff is at
Lowes hardware at distributor prices, Honeywell stuff is ...
