After Hours08 Feb 2005 07:16 GMT11
How many of you get customers who insist you should come take care of
routine service substantially after hours and charge the same rate as if you

What's a better location for an AC wall plug-in type of
CO alarm:  a wall socket a few inches off the floor, or a
wall socket mid way up the wall ?
Why ?

Tri-color LEDs07 Feb 2005 23:03 GMT5
Does anyone know where I can purchase some 3 color LED's? I worked with
these once on a door control box and I cannot seem to find individual
LEDs I need for another project. These LED's have 3 wire leads on them.
One ground and 2 positives. If you put positive voltage on one lead ...

Alarm Company owners - marketing questions07 Feb 2005 18:42 GMT123
How would you say most of your business comes to you?
How do you get referrals?
What inexpensive marketing advice would you have for someone just starting out?
If you could do it again, what mistakes would you avoid?
Question on pre-wired home07 Feb 2005 14:07 GMT5
When I had my house built last year, I had it completely pre-wired for
a home security system. I just bought an Ademco unit, but upon trying
to install it I became confused about some of the wiring they ran. I
have three separate grey 4-pair CAT3 24AWG wires labeled for the

Telecom Distrbutors06 Feb 2005 21:35 GMT3
Ok... I am beginning to think that all telecom distributors have a basic
problem with the concept of customer service.
Everybody knows my opinion of Greybar... no need to reitterate all of that
old garbage.

I shipped an Ademco Vista-20P system to Belgium today.  Shortly after
returning from UPS there was another call from Belgium.  The gentleman
wanted a Vista-20P with two 6270 keypads.  It's too bad Ademco decided to
limit the 20P to two 6270 touchscreen keypads.  I assume it's a ...
DSL and a burglar alarm on one Phone line06 Feb 2005 11:37 GMT6
My business is in a shopping mall, so the main NID (?) (main phone circuit
board) is located about 140' from my store.  I would have no other use for a
second phone line. In the current setup the alarm is conflicting with my DSL
and vice-versa...
