I've received a "bf" warning on my Scantronic 9800, meaning that the
backup battery needs to be replaced. However, I would like to change
the battery myself without calling an "expert" to do it. I don't fancy
the bill, and see no reason why my DIY skills can't sort this out.

I have a residential Ademco system which also has 6 BRK 4120
ionization type smoke detectors wired so as to trip the alarm.
Three nights ago, after I had gotten to sleep I was awoken by the
smoke alarms all going off in unison as well as the alarm siren. I

My alarm has been in for about 10 years. Never had any false
alarms..... till this morning. There was absolutely no source of
smoke or steam that could have caused the alarm. So I'm thinking
maybe one of the smoke detectors is either dirty or defective. They

I have a Scantronic 9800 alarm system, professionally installed in my home
some 10 years ago.
Recently the internal alarm sounded at 3.30am and I entered my user code to
turn it off.

I have some general questions concerning the Ademco AlarmNet boxes. Do
these run completely asynchronously from the main dialer? Or does the
AlarmNet box wait until the main dial is completed to make its own outgoing
connection attempt?

just changed the battery two months ago No troubles for the first 8 years.
