field installation, mostly Monaco (http://www.monaco.com) M-1 & M-2
Addressable and Conventional Systems. I also have experience bidding
Everfocus EDSR-90014 Sep 2004 02:02 GMT6
I'm new to this group. It looks good.
I recently installed an Everfocus EDSR-900 digital video recorder.
It's easy to use and review.
I noticed the image quality is not that good with a pinhole motion
Good Zero Lux Cameras?14 Sep 2004 00:22 GMT13
I would appreciate some recommendations for cameras that are high resolution
and high visibility in zero lux conditions, using built in LEDs.    I have
purchased some cheaper no-name cameras (made in China) that claim to be 480
line resolution and include up to 56 LEDs, but ...

The announcement is that Wireless Alarm Systems are
unreliable during "Radio Frequency Interferences" known as RFI.
RFI take place when the wireless alarm system receiver receives two or

Carbon monoxide detectors affected by termite fumigation?13 Sep 2004 07:18 GMT3
Anybody out there know if the use of Vikane gas for termite fumigation
(tenting) will damage the sensor element in carbon monoxide detectors?
Since it's colorless and odorless I'm guessing it would not affect smoke
detectors of either the photo or ion variety, but I'm debating ...

Stolen Alarm System Signs13 Sep 2004 02:18 GMT11
Just curious.  Anybody have a big problem with people stealing alarm
systems signs from customer's lawns?  How much of a problem and what did
you do to combat the problem?

"Used" C-Cure for Older apC/8X?12 Sep 2004 03:31 GMT4
We just moved into a new office that's got a Sensormatic apC/8X panel,
and several card readers & electronic latches. But we don't have the
$5k we're quoted for new P4 machines and new software, etc.
The system was installed several years ago - when less powerful
Need Help with Ademco 583912 Sep 2004 02:25 GMT4
I needed to add some additional interior sirens... so I upgraded to the 5883
two-way wireless so I could use the 5800WAVE sirens.
HOPEFULLY the new two-way was going to solve some issues about placing
additional keypads in places that were VERY hard to get to...
Newbie Help12 Sep 2004 01:02 GMT3

Programming entry delay for FA148CP w. FA215 keypad11 Sep 2004 22:43 GMT1
I just moved into a new house that appears to have an FA148CP system
w/ FA215 keypads. The installers did not bother to tell me anything
about how they programmed it, but I was able to figure out the basics
and guess the default code based on a user's guide I found on the web.
DIY alarm monitoring in Canada?11 Sep 2004 18:31 GMT48
I'm sure it's been asked before.... but I could not find the answer...
I have a DSC pc5020 (power 864) that I installed in my home in BC
(Vancouver, Canada). I am looking for a monitoring company that will
monitor it. I dont want or need a "tech" to come and program my
Is monitoring required?11 Sep 2004 03:03 GMT8
I don't think that monitoring is required just like dyers do as good
the installation job than so called pro's.
Too many false alarms have lead police to a point that they lower the
intervention priority of alarm calls.
looks complicated10 Sep 2004 04:42 GMT40
I've been thinking of a diy install of the dsc 832.  Im  new to security
systems and have a few questions.
How do you install magnetic contacts on steel doors? I believe mine have a
wood or foam core. Do you just need to make a wood spacer or something so it
PIR Help10 Sep 2004 04:08 GMT6
I have one PIR in my house that keeps false alarming, here are the facts-
It is a quad pulse count PIR (whatever that means)
This is a new installation, done by me.
The room is quite small, around 8ft x 14ft.
