Would someone please point me to source of info on security systems
designed for farms.  My parameters are as follows.
1.  My home is half mile from gate to public road.  That is the maximum
distance needed for system.

Metal Relining For Brick Chimney Flue?06 Nov 2006 17:10 GMT10
I've recently gotten a used small wood stove from one of my sisters. The
cast iron firebox in the stove is around 24x16x16 inches. Then it has a
sheet metal liner connected to and around that. Then about 3 or so
inches out from that liner is the case-also sheetmetal. And I've just
Humans are merely livestock06 Nov 2006 16:41 GMT10
Why do humans consider themselves superior to livestock?  Humans ARE
livestock, and generally are less intelligent than most other
livestock.  These humans think they are smarter because they live in
houses and make computers and things.  But look at it from another

Woodstove Built into wall?05 Nov 2006 18:13 GMT7
I have lived in a house with a wood stove fireplace insert and now have
a free standing wood stove. We are getting ready to build a new house
and, I like the look of the insert better. So, we could build a
fireplace with the intention of just using it with an insert, but I'm

ending chickens' lives mercifully03 Nov 2006 23:10 GMT75
Some say you should cut the throat and not behead the bird, /bc the
heart will pump out all the blood in the former case.  This sounds like
needless pain and suffering to the bird.  Can't you bleed the carcass
after mercifully beheading the fowl?
Advice please, cistern supply line.02 Nov 2006 19:40 GMT2
We have a jet-pump in the house sucking an above
ground cistern, with the usual "check" valve in the
cistern, that all works well. The supply line isn't
buried but is covered, best I can do on short notice.

Septic Tank Mound02 Nov 2006 16:24 GMT15
We are looking at buying a rural home, and have zero experience with septic
systems (I've lived in town my whole life and always had city sewer).  One
place we really like has a mound (probably 2-3' high & 12' diameter) over
the septic tank.  It's not a mound-type drainfield, ...

Will you vote for a candidate, next week, that voted for, or would vote
for this and supports the other measures of the Police State ie The
Patriot Act? Under this thing you have to notify the authorities if you
ride your horse down the road, not a trail. Imagine the plight of ...
Building an "indian pass" - HELP! Need memory-update!02 Nov 2006 04:07 GMT135
Heya folks...
Was just recently discussing what used to be called an "indian pass" in
years gone by - probably been replaced with some politically correct
term these days - Basically, it's a gateless opening in a fence that a
