As if we needed further evidence...30 Nov 2006 15:01 GMT18
...that homeowners associations are evil.
"A homeowners association in southwestern Colorado has threatened to fine
a resident $25 a day until she removes a Christmas wreath with a peace sign
that some say is an anti-Iraq war protest or a symbol of Satan."
Cleaning records30 Nov 2006 05:48 GMT15
Remember records?  Well, TV has been so dull of late that I've started
to go through the old record collection and been playing them and some
of them need a good cleaning.
I've used the old fibre cleaner dooverlackie and it doesn't seem to be

Automatic of manual draft control?28 Nov 2006 21:40 GMT2
For a (whole house) wood furnace, how do I decide whether to use an
automatic barometric draft control, or a manual cast iron control? The
issue I am getting now is that with the automatic control, the air that
gets in to the chimney is cooling the flue temperature down too much.
This NAIS thing28 Nov 2006 13:02 GMT2
It is pretty much a foregone conclusion that some kind of universal animal
identification system is going to befallen us. I'm not at all enthused about
having my personal data in the hands of Conagra, Smithfield, ADM, Tyson and
others so they can freeze me out of markets they ...
burning tumbleweeds26 Nov 2006 03:10 GMT34
OK...I'm posting this unsolicited idea for the sake of others who may

Anybody know about the cheap Chinese tractors at Rural King?25 Nov 2006 07:19 GMT26
I live on thirty mostly hillside acres in Appalachian Kentucky.  I used
to have a nice tractor, sold it, and am in the market for another.
Primary uses would be dragging firewood down off the hill behind me,
and working about an acres of garden in season.
Wood stove dutchwest tuneup tip24 Nov 2006 01:00 GMT2
Here's a tip you might want to try if you have an "airtight" stove (like
dutchwest).  I've had ours for probably 20 years and burn it 24/7 during
the winter months.  Except for minor maintenance (like replacing the
