I find this a bit troubling...I understand the thought process, but the
control issue imposed by environmentalists is offensive (can you say
Spotted Owl?), and the fact that these people have to get permits to cut
trees on their own property is also offensive - even though I ...

My home is in a semi-rural neighborhood and has a septic system.  When
I purchased this house, 25 years ago, I knew nothing about septic
systems.  I now consider myself a highly informed consumer due to my
experience in 'cajoling' an inadequately sized and terribly  installed

Does anybody know if I can dry gourds (to make bird houses later)
outside in the winter (in Minnesota).  I know they will freeze solid,
but will they eventually dry?   Maybe they will just rot.  That's what
happened last year when I tried drying them in the house.  I think only
