Xmas, a safe and happy Xmas (however you may celebrate it) to everyone.
OK, Off-Topic For Once24 Dec 2005 12:04 GMT4
I generally try to avoid any discussions not directly related to rural
issues, but I was web surfing this evening and found a very distressing
economic report.  This is only of interest to Americans, so apologies to
the Brits, Aussies, Kiwis and others.

Janet you may want to look at the ng where I first saw your posts.  There is
a question there from someone in Scotland that you may be able to help with.
American Self Destruction23 Dec 2005 15:14 GMT14
As we all watch the empire of america sink into the archives of history,
what do you think will end up being its ultimate undoing?
The homosexual perversions of its male population 'Fundamentalists'?
The cowardice and inhumanity demonstrated by its military leaders?
Best Motor and Transmission Oils23 Dec 2005 15:09 GMT8
From my humble observations, premium filters do no better than cheap throw
aways. The double guard and extra guards costing twice or thrice the amount
of regular no name types ACTUALLY CAUSE THE OIL TO APPEAR DIRTIER FASTER!!!!
My solution?
Sourdough23 Dec 2005 10:09 GMT18
I've set a batch of sourdough bread to rise this morning and as I was doing
it I started to wonder about starters.
I can't buy starter here at all so have to keep mine going.
Does anyone have a tried and true recipe for starter?

Tractor Oil Angst21 Dec 2005 04:45 GMT5
I have a Ford 3000 (~1973).  It doesn't get used
much anymore - about 20 hours per year.  I've always used
SAE 30 oil.  Recently, I've had to start it a couple
of times this almost winter.  It's been cold.  This
Mesquite in the hay field21 Dec 2005 01:01 GMT11
Well it's not a hay field yet but that's my plan.  It's a 40ac field in
east Texas that hasn't been worked or grazed for probably almost 15
years.  It appears to be the usually mix of rangeland grasses for this
area.  I'll probably lime and fertilize for a couple years and see how
Almost hit deer...20 Dec 2005 02:23 GMT38
I don't know why at night, deer will stand in the middle of the road and
watch headlights coming straight toward them and not move?
I came around a curve last night going 55 and there was a doe standing there
in the road staring me down. I swerved into the other lane and slammed ...

This has gone too far....19 Dec 2005 20:01 GMT135
Now we have a movie about gay cowboys....
This has gone too far....
Personally, I dislike the cowboy image.  Even though I ride horses, I
refuse to wear a cowboy hat and most of their other clothing.  But a
