1 ton loads in 1/2 ton pick-up?31 Oct 2005 16:34 GMT24
Is it possible to alter a 1/2 ton pick-up so it can *frequently* carry 1 ton
loads?
My tires are for light truck, so they will hold the weight OK. I assume I
could change the springs or change the rear shocks....
Another shooting incident here in Arkansas(and lessons learned)31 Oct 2005 16:21 GMT9
On August 24th there was a strange incident near here. Apparently, two neighbors
near Marshall, Arkansas had a shootout when one of them got fed up with the
other's dogs which had been running loose for a long time and killing his sheep.
The owner of the sheep got his gun and shot ...

Does anyone here have a Universal (UTB) tractor?
What do you think of it?
I'm tired of constantly fixing an old Nuffield tractor,
so I'm looking at a few used tractors,

about another 20,000 that have body parts missing and will be a burden on
american society for the next 50 years.

Churches: "First" church of this or that...30 Oct 2005 15:56 GMT13
I was driving around today and was wondering why many of the churches I see
are called "First" church of this or that. Why no second?
So I thought I would search on google.com to see if there was a second
church of something. There was! And a 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc.!
I'm better now..cuz I'm going to get some cattle!30 Oct 2005 13:44 GMT8
After my desperate, depressed post a while back, I've been thinking.  I
kept telling myself that I couldn't have any cattle because I only have
1.5 acres, no equipment, no money.  Well...
A couple years ago, a guy let me use 40 acres of pasture for free.  I

I've had a problem for the past 3 years and it's gotten worse
as the time has gone on. It's a 1997 Buick Riviera 3.8 supercharged
engine. Two problems are it will just stall while sitting at a red
light (sometimes it catches itself though) and second, at around 160

Wanted Jelly recipe29 Oct 2005 02:31 GMT4
After searching through thousands of posts on jelly I fail to find a
recipe for making May Pop or Passion Fruit jelly. So am thinking maybe
someone here on Misc Rural has the answer. The fruit grows wild in mid
Tennessee. They make excellent jelly which taste a bit like apple I
Newbie question on hooking up a disc harrow28 Oct 2005 19:42 GMT6
I've been given what I think is a disc harrow.  It's pretty old, and
possibly incomplete - the previous owner had gotten it for free with a
tractor purchase, and thought it needed some chains or something to
complete it.  He never tried to use it at all, and can't tell me much

it. however, i misplaced the recipe, don't remember the thread
it was under or Skip's email addy, so i can't look it up. does
Cheap living28 Oct 2005 00:36 GMT1
I've noticed some posters are looking to move.  Some of the towns
in the Plains States are giving away lots and other goodies to get
people to move.  A couple articles here:

Woodstove fire building 101?27 Oct 2005 04:50 GMT17
Question 1.
What do you do with your woodstove when you have several days of mild
temperatures and just need a "little heat"?
Seems to me that to get my woodstove working properly (draft, etc.), I need
Haralson County, GA  Have 38 Acres Available for Leasing27 Oct 2005 02:05 GMT2
Toying with the notion of leasing 38 acres I just had clear cut. I have
50 acres total...the land is just sitting there and would be interested
in supplimenting my income by leasing between 10 to 38 acres. What
questions should I be asking and what should I watch out for?
