Buying Rural Land - Seeking experiences, advise, words of wisdom and warning.12 Jun 2005 19:58 GMT4
I haven't posted to usenet groups for a very long time. I hope that I
don't regret it.  And I hope that I don't get bombarded by spam.
That being said. I am beginning to research purchasing rural land for
myself and my husband's retirement home. We lived in Tucson for several
Tacoma WA st.bernard lost12 Jun 2005 19:03 GMT3
A two year old male saint bernard jumped the six foot containment fence
yesterday and is out and about, location unknown other than originating
in Tacoma.  A long hair saint, his face is distinctive due to it almost
being all white.  We do not consider him dangerous, but will ...
Electronic monitoring, home confinement?12 Jun 2005 18:17 GMT7
First off let me say "I am NOT looking for a way to beat the machine!"
I live in VERY rural West(by God!)Virginia. I have to wear one of these
things for 6 months as a result of a misd. assault conviction involving
defending myself in a bar-fight... That said, I don't need remarks
Chainsaws:  Husqvarna vs. Stihl12 Jun 2005 07:05 GMT38
I need a new chainsaw to replace my crappy Poulan that just went
through its 2nd oil pump in the last 3 months.  I am considering a
Husky 350 and a Stihl MS 270.  I like the feel of the Husky better, and
the Stihl would cost me about $60 more.  Is one better than the other?

Ag/Residential zoning10 Jun 2005 19:13 GMT7
I keep seeing properties marked as "Ag/Residential" zoning.
What does this mean to me as a disabled person that wants a parcel to
park his RV on?
I imagine that the designation means different things in differnet

Metal buildings and Lightening10 Jun 2005 01:16 GMT11
I am considering building a large garage/pole barn using metal.
I am very concerned with lightening strikes due to where I live.
My house is nearly the highest thing in town.  When we get lightening
it's always dancing around us.  There had been a tree next to the
Protect buildings from lighting like electrical substations?09 Jun 2005 00:15 GMT10
Wouldn't it be possible to protect a one or two story building the way
engineers protect electrical substations?
In this method, medium size bare cables are strung from grounded
metallic pole/pylons at each corner and the overhead cables completely
Installing a central air filter09 Jun 2005 00:10 GMT17
Now that I fixed the water........ :-)
I want to fix the poor air quality in the house. The house is about 15
yo and is an r2000 house--unfortunately it is sealed tight and no air
gets in (not even a roof air system). There is no ductwork. We all wake
D Day08 Jun 2005 23:24 GMT7
Just looked at the date and noticed it is the sixth of June.  Must have
been a nightmare, all those years ago on the Normandy beaches.

Never ending French complaints08 Jun 2005 10:43 GMT81
A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included
admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French
Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a
group of half dozen or so officers that included personnel from most
Want help with Heatilator fireplace08 Jun 2005 06:35 GMT4
My builder recommended and installed a Heatilator fireplace. From my
cursory look at this unit, it looks like a piece of junk.  The wire
curtain supplied that you can draw across the front will not slide
well on the tracks and the lever for opening and closing the flue

Dear Friends: Greetings: I am a retired attorney. A few years ago a man
came to me with a letter. He asked me to verify the fact that this was
legal to do. I told him I would review it and get back to him. When I
first read the letter my client brought me, I thought it was some
