Dealing With A Problem Cat?16 Apr 2005 16:09 GMT50
A rather morbid subject, but something has to be done.

Per consensus of neighbors, this thing has already killed two cats in the
immediate area over the past year.
Runnning well pump off generator, proper voltage?15 Apr 2005 21:31 GMT13
Power went off last night, by this morning the power company people
were still scratching their heads and trying to figure out where the
transformers were, etc.  No estimate on when power would be restored.
So, I fired up the generator.  This is a 5KW model.

Saw some termites under the mulch next to my house...14 Apr 2005 00:35 GMT4
Should I be worried? We just bought the house and it passed inspection.
I dug around with my hands and it was only a very localized patch,
maybe a foot across. But I didn't dig down.
Tips welcomed!

Is there a paint that can stop a basement wall leak?09 Apr 2005 03:56 GMT5
I have a leaky (cinderblock) basement wall, which had a horizontal
crack and bow, but which has been re-inforced now and is fine. But at
the bottom of the wall, where it was leaning in slighly, there are a
few places where it leaks after heavy rain (and putting in french

to make it worthwile to sell the stuff.
Just a passing thought...07 Apr 2005 15:23 GMT34
I'm not super protective of my property, but I sure like to have it
left alone. Was wondering what anyone would think of encouraging
poison ivy or poison oak growing in a limited and protective barrier
around their property?
Carhartt and Dickies07 Apr 2005 13:10 GMT7
Anyone else out there noticed that the products of these two companies
taking a big dive in quality?  Just had a pair of carhartt jeans fall
apart on me after half a dozen washings--never had this happen before?
Ditto a pair of dickies logger jeans, did not last past the first
Measuring the height of trees07 Apr 2005 03:27 GMT15
How even a kid can measure the height of a tree
Some Native Americans had a very interesting way of doing this. To see
how high a tree was, they would find a spot where, looking under their
legs (as shown), they could just see the top of the tree. The distance

Any assistance greatly received.
Measure vertical rise06 Apr 2005 19:07 GMT22
How can I measure the vertical rise from a pond surface to the place
that I want to irrigate?
I've seen a number of postings in this group that talk about irrigating
out of the pond, with seemingly accurate values for the rise and
