trespassing or friendly neighbors14 Dec 2004 15:38 GMT95
Hi All - I would appreciate any thoughts you may have on this.  My
wife and I are building a home on some land in Upstate NY (18 acres)
that I've had for about 5 years.  We have two small children and a
dog.  A few days ago, a neighbor told me that she regularly sees
Are There Chinamen Near You?14 Dec 2004 11:38 GMT10
With this latest episode of chinamen going berserk, reverting to wild monkey
status, and butchering humans, take note,
Are there Chinamen living near you?
If so, write down names and have a plan of action necessary (oh...legally, of
Looking for info on Antique Farm Equipment Magazines...13 Dec 2004 22:20 GMT5
Hiya,
Trying to think of an  XMas gift for the man who has everything (my
Dad), the thought occured to me that he would enjoy a subscription to
a magazine on antique farm equipment. He currently owns a JD Model
Wood Cook Stove Information Wanted13 Dec 2004 02:04 GMT2
I'm looking for information on an old wood burning cook stove.  It's
labeled "National B"  on the oven front door and has a thermometer there
as well.  The firebox is on the left and loads from the top or left.
It looks to be in good structural shape, but the cast iron needs
Measuring fuel oil level12 Dec 2004 17:53 GMT20
My dad is wondering how to calculate the volume of an underground 500 gallon
fuel oil tank with a stick. He said that these tanks are pretty standard is
shape so there should be some standard metric for figuring volume based on
fuel depth. Anyone aware of the graduations or where ...
Laptops in the woods. . .12 Dec 2004 15:52 GMT6
I got a call from a friend of mine who lives in a rural Montana area. He has a
log mansion in the woods with cellular phone service and thanks to a small
hydroelectric generator he has a constant source of electricity. He is
scheduled for knee & hip replacement surgery in a month ...
EPA and septic systems?12 Dec 2004 13:30 GMT4
After buying some land, my dad sends me the following:
"As I understand, the EPA has gotten into the act and you just cannot
put in a septic system in any more."
Is this for real?  We are talking about rural Texas, outside of a
Problem with Lincoln Ranger 8 - no output11 Dec 2004 03:44 GMT5
I have the opportunity to purchase a 3 year old Lincoln Ranger 8
welder/generator with 600 hours.  Apparently, the unit worked well for
3 years.  However, while powering a refrigerator and some lamps, it
ran out of gas.  When it was filled up and re-started, there was no
Propane costs11 Dec 2004 00:54 GMT7
My latest propane tank fill-up cost $1.79 a gallon in Southwest Washington.
How does this compare to other places?

An "All-Inclusive" Theory of Origins?10 Dec 2004 22:45 GMT56
... it seems we 'merkins are being forced, kicking, screaming, whining
and groaning, to revisit the Scopes "Monkey Trial" by a faction
determined to impose their will on our kids' textbooks.
IE, down with Darwin and up with Genesis. T'hell with science: those be
Raptor ID10 Dec 2004 20:20 GMT2
Noted a nice "hawk-like" bird tearing apart a jackrabbit at my place
late this morning.
I got within probably 20 feet before I decided not to approach any
closer.
Water Softeners08 Dec 2004 17:01 GMT28
My well water is extremely high in calcium (I haven't tested it in a few
years, so I'm not sure of the amount, other than "a lot").  It's clear, odor
free and tastes great.  I am using a small particulate filter now that has
little effect.
Need Easy Method to hang NO HUNTING signs08 Dec 2004 04:54 GMT28
I dont have a line fence around my whole property.
There is either electric fence around my livestock or nothing along
adjoining crop fields.  I have NO HUNTING signs at the entrances but I
got hunters coming onto my land from all angles.  In fact I just
Winterizing08 Dec 2004 03:27 GMT9
Well, the weather has finally turned to crap, so I have been putting
away my tools.  I have been letting the tanks run dry on all my small
engines and fogging the cylinders, except for the generator, that just
got a test run last weekend.  It's interesting that there are summer
