Rotting Sump: How to help it along?24 Dec 2004 05:29 GMT7
Got 3-4" of stump left.
Drilled beaucoups 1/2" holes in it and expect it to rot...eventually.
I'm not in a big hurry - or I'd go at it with a chain saw....but sooner would be
better.
Hydraulic Quick couplings24 Dec 2004 05:04 GMT3
Ok, what's the trick with these things.  They obviously work pretty
much like quick air couplings, but I have to sweat bullets to get them
to connect.
Right now I have a snowblower with hydraulic spout turner that

At home with Pepe LePew22 Dec 2004 16:18 GMT11
Well, the other shoe finally dropped in the homeowner's association
lawsuit.  Last year they filed suit against us for failing to meet one of
the five restrictive covenants, specifically that of having a permanent
foundation for our mobile home.  Since then, we have maintained that:

I'm in the NE Texas area, if that makes any difference.
Thanks!
Barn Heating - propane forced air vs convection vs kerosene21 Dec 2004 22:47 GMT2
Hi all,
I've got the basic drafty old barn about 30x40f, 20ft 2 levels
and want to get it warm enough to work in for a few hours
at a time here in the New Hampshire winter.
Fireproof whisk broom for fireplace cleaning?21 Dec 2004 12:42 GMT2
When I empty the swing-out ash pan of my woodstove, I sometimes drop a
few hot embers on the hearth pad. I am looking for a fireproof whisk
broom to aid in sweeping them up. Ayone know of sources?
It would also be nice to put a fireproof flexible mat under the stove
Of latinos, hispanics,spics, greasers, wetbacks, etc21 Dec 2004 09:52 GMT60
Their contribution to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and America in general,
has been crime, destrucion of neighborhoods, etc. They are a fungus
that slowly destroys what it touches. They swell our population and
deplete our financial resources.
which is cheaper: propane or kerosene21 Dec 2004 09:37 GMT1
Which is cheaper to operate in a portable space heater,
propane or kerosene? I'm leaning toward kerosene because
it's easier to buy and transport, scares me less
(less inflammable). Other factors are that I don't
2-cows21 Dec 2004 02:14 GMT7
I've always heard that the minimum you need to get the ag-exemption in Texas
is two cows, but I that's all I've ever heard about it.....
A neighbor's decided he finally wants to get "into farming" simply to lower
his taxes on a small 20acre "plot" he bought down the road, and ...
How to kill sinister trees in your garden ????20 Dec 2004 16:15 GMT15

What can I do?
Cruddy old cast iron spiders20 Dec 2004 06:40 GMT28
Okay boys -- I've inherited a whole wagon load of really crusty old
cast iron spiders. The seasoning inside them isn't all that great. I'm
really tempted to just throw these pans into a hot hardwood fire, burn
all of the years of crud off of them and start over. They're good,
figuring strength of concrete beam19 Dec 2004 19:22 GMT3
I wish I had done better at math in high school.. My question is how
can I figure out the strength (amount of load) that a concrete beam can
take...  I am considering making a small bridge over a stream in the
driveway that leads to this property and am stumped as to how strong it
What wood needs to be seasoned more than a year?19 Dec 2004 15:59 GMT9
I read somewhere that some wood needs 2 years and some 5! What wood was
that, and is it true?
Also since I am up in the NE (NJ), I can get lots of maple and oak, is
there any big deal that oak is better or is it almost the same to burn?
