The funniest thing I ever seen30 Jun 2004 05:33 GMT9
Last week I saw the funniest thing I ever seen.
The farmer next door was out in the field on his tractor when he had a
heart attack and died.  He slumped over on top of the tractor, and the
tractor kept going.  First it knocked down his sheep fence settingh
Growing Berries30 Jun 2004 01:34 GMT21
I have a lot of blackberry and raspberry bushes on my place, but they
grow in areas that I would like to clear so I can control other pest
plants that grow amongst them such as Multiflora Rose and wild grapes.
I was thinking of trying to dig up a lot of these berry bushes this ...
canvas water bag cooler29 Jun 2004 17:45 GMT12
Anyone know an web source for canvas water bag coolers that work by
evaporation? Old timers like me recall these invariably white linen or
canvas one or two gallon bags that one soaked throughly before filling
and hung in a shady but windy spot.
Tractor electrical problem - please help29 Jun 2004 13:48 GMT14
O.K. my tractor is a Hinomoto C174 approx. a 1985 which I have now found is
the same as an Allis Chalmers 5015 or a Deutz/Allis 5215. (I HAVE MANUALS ON
THE WAY) I also have found that this tractor has a 12 volt system and not a
6 volt as I previously assumed.
Your Most Hated Weed28 Jun 2004 18:45 GMT161
The weed that is most a nuisance to me is a small carrot like deal called
"Hedge Parsley". It sets a ring shaped head of real sticky burrs that love to
bury into your shoes, and fight like hell to keep from coming out.
Anytime I see this herb anywheres near my place, I pull it up ...

Need help in locating a watering pond for stock27 Jun 2004 18:40 GMT5
I have just acquired some land I want to use for a pasture.  I want to
dig a pond for watering the stock.   Is there any way to pick the spot
that most likely will have a spring or is that just wishful thinking?
I have a downsloping area that might provide an area for a pond that
snapper comet engine27 Jun 2004 17:00 GMT3
Food for thought....I am just wondering if one can put a more powerful
engine on a Snapper Comet?  Not that there is anything wrong with the
8hp Briggs on the Snapper now (other than a good tuneup), but I am
thinking of selling my larger garden tractor and wondered if I could
Browning of the NC foothills27 Jun 2004 15:35 GMT220
Last Thursday through Sunday I visited friends near Hendersonville. I
had the time to visit and "sniff around" other towns to include
Waynesville and Brevard. Enjoyed a vintage car show at Brevard's
surviving drive-in burger joint.
Tire retaining wall27 Jun 2004 14:55 GMT24
I am looking into using old tires to build retaining walls along my
road.  Anyone have any design info and perhaps some links to pictures
of existing ones?

To birdsmouth or not to birdsmouth26 Jun 2004 23:00 GMT9
This year I am building a 16'X10' picnic pavilion, pole
building style construction. Since it is so big to tackle (I'm one
person) and I've never done it before I decided to build a smaller,
8'X8' picnic pavilion first so that I can get some experience before I

Farm Telephone Query?26 Jun 2004 02:56 GMT11
We have a rural place in SW Virginia .  My Dad spends a lot of time there
working alone and we would like to have an emergency communications solution
for him to carry.  We are out where the cell phone coverage is spotty at
best.  There are many parts of the property where he can't ...
Push mower replacement engine25 Jun 2004 23:02 GMT13
The other post reminded me to ask this.
The mower is a 35+ yr old commercial Bob-Cat with a 4hp B/S vertical shaft
engine.  The mower body is definitely worth saving, cast aluminum body
with real wheels.  Great for mowing in rough areas.
Well X Trol question25 Jun 2004 13:22 GMT3
I have a small Well X Trol tank (about 30 gallons). The water pressure from
my well is about 45 psi. When I turn on the water. I have good pressure then
it starts going back and forth from almost 0 back up to 45. Does this sound
like a problem in the tank or my well pump?
