I'm pretty sure this is a hopeless problem ....but....Every spring when i
get back to my cabin, a couple more of my maple trees have big woodpecker holes
in them. These are my yard/shade tree maples so theyre very important. The
holes are approx 6" by 8" and deep and more often ...
Perennial Ryegrass30 Apr 2004 15:00 GMT2
I needed to plant grass on a few acres of land. I went to home
depot and found perennial ryegrass for $24.00 a 50# bag. It said it
was good for 8000 square feet. I called Agway (farm store) and asked
them what they had. They told me that they had a product called
Rope suspension bridge30 Apr 2004 14:58 GMT9
I wanted to build a 30-40' rope suspension bridge. The kind
that's all rope with wood floorboards. Has anyone ever done this
before? My plans so far are to sink 2 4X6's into the ground on either
side for the towers. They would protrude out of the ground 5'. I am

shock the well; bypass water softener?30 Apr 2004 06:47 GMT7
A water test shows that I have bacteria in my well.  I have
instructions to inspect it for cracks and leaks, then add a gallon of
bleach, run the hose down the well to swoosh it around, run all
faucets/toilets until I smell the chlorine, then stop, wait four
20hp mtd mower, new rod ... now it seizes30 Apr 2004 03:57 GMT21
OK, what happened ... :)
My air cooled 20hp air-cooled mower flipped a rod.  Replacing it was
my first venture inside an engine ... very interesting.  After putting
it back together, it turned over kinda slow.  I got it started once
Poison Ivy and oak treatment29 Apr 2004 21:40 GMT16
Being in prime poison oak territory (the logging road next to us is
officially named "Poison Oak Trail"), I'm blessed with no reaction to
the stuff, so far. My wife is not so lucky.
The good news: we found what we consider to be a cure. If you have the
Want "quick & dirty" seal for B&S carb. bowl29 Apr 2004 18:56 GMT3
I have a Sears mower with a 6.75 B&S  engine.
The bowl started leaking and the cause was the "sealing washer."   This
looks like a piece of paper!
Anyway, I SHOULD order a carb re-build kit but meanwhile what can I do to
Water pump pressure question29 Apr 2004 15:37 GMT3
I've recently sourced a centrifugal pump to draw water out of a well in my
garden.  The primary purpose of the pump was to provide water round the
garden and one of things I wanted to do was run a sprinkler.  The
specification of the pump I purchase is below:
Vard vac27 Apr 2004 16:08 GMT1
I need to hook some sort of a vaccuum system to my JD L100 series lawn tractor.
It just doesn't do a good enough job of pulling up the cut grass.
Even worse is when I do the leaves with it. Can anyone reccommend
a good system to attach to the rear of this thing?
Blackberries26 Apr 2004 15:17 GMT6
Question for the experts again:
I have a large stand of blackberry canes in a grassy part of my Missouri Ozark
land. I want to clear it all out so I can plant some pine trees in the area.
I don't think I'll try to cut it out with hand clippers. The whole stand is

Rural pager (beeper) company/service?25 Apr 2004 09:49 GMT4
I live in Virginia outside of Charlottesville.  I need a reliable beeper
company and one that will work out at my home.  I currently have Metrocall
and miss a large number of pages at my home.  My missed pages are
intermittent.  This is presumably 'cause I'm at the edge of their ...
garden tractor steering25 Apr 2004 07:17 GMT7
My troy-bilt/mtd garden tractor, one of the gt series - 809h - will
not steer to the right.  The gearing/sprockets all seem to still be
intact, but when the steering wheel is turned to the right, the
sprocket teeth (??terms) slip and do not interdigitate with the
