I came home a little bit ago to find some orange stripes
painted across our gravel road.   I wonder what the yuppie
hell city is up to now.  Any ideas ?   I would call them but
I never get a straight or honest answer from them.

Shed Floor Plan Question31 Aug 2003 15:26 GMT2
I bought some plans for a shed.  I was a little disappointed to be honest,
but anyway I have a question.  Please.
It says to use 2x4 for the rim joist and for the the "bottome sid of wooden
floor" use 2x4 treated floor beams.  The deck is 2x6 material.

Pole Barn do's and don'ts ??27 Aug 2003 06:07 GMT2
I am planning on putting up a new pole next spring.   My thought is to buy a
kit and have a builder frame it, I'll do the siding & concrete work.
What should I look for in a kit?
Who makes good ones, who should be avoided?

Working Barns26 Aug 2003 03:43 GMT2
Here are some pictures of my barns.  I only got pictures of the three best
barns.  I didn't have time to get to number four.  It is really a wreck.
Sorry about the picture quality.  Bad time of day.  Some are blurry.  What
can I say?
tent caterpillars25 Aug 2003 20:54 GMT3
I've got a few trees infested with tent caterpillars (a.k.a. webworms). Anyone
got advice for eradicating the pests once and for all?
Old Barn25 Aug 2003 16:20 GMT9
I'm new to this news group, (I just found it this morning)
My wife and I bought this old farm site last summer and we've been busy
remodling the house (the old kitchen was a bit too spartan!)  One of the
more charming features of the old farm site, is the old red barn.  We've
Tool Sharpener Recommendations23 Aug 2003 02:33 GMT14
I've been thinking about getting my own tool sharpener to use for the
mulching blades on the lawn mower and other yard and garden tools.  Many
years ago my grandfather had sharpener in his farm workshop that was foot
powered.  It had a large grinding wheel maybe 2 inches wide and 12 ...
Minwax stain gel22 Aug 2003 20:21 GMT5
Has anyone used Minwax gel stain? I've read that it doesn't get as dark as
the liquid stains because it's already thickened. I also read not to use it
with a pre-conditioner.
I built a large pine fish tank cabinet and wanted to stain it a dark red

Lost power for a day?  Big deal!21 Aug 2003 19:28 GMT7
Here in hurricane and ice storm country (NC) you'd better have everything in
place to lose power for a week or more (two weeks with Hugo in 89 or 90).
A day? Walk in the park.
Insuring a Farm Truck20 Aug 2003 20:16 GMT6
After retiring my 20-year-old Toyota truck, I decided to buy a town
car for daily needs, but that leaves me with stuffing my brand-new
Toyota Camry with wood, saws, pulaskis, fence posts, barbed wire, etc.
For some reason, my wife looks unkindly on that idea, so that leaves
