| What batteries to use? | 30 Oct 2008 03:35 GMT | 38 |
What are the most economical batteries to use in devices that are rarely used, such as a label maker (e.g. 15 labels a year). I've gathered over the years that in items like flashlights it pays to use better brands, but what about the situation above? Are rechargables a

| Baseboards | 30 Oct 2008 03:29 GMT | 14 |
I want to install baseboards in a room that is a garage conversion. Since the bottom of the wall is cement blocks I cannot nail them in place. The bottom of the drywall is glued to the blocks. It was never framed to the floor. What would be the best adhesive to use for

| Wood splitter | 30 Oct 2008 02:58 GMT | 21 |
I am considering buying a McCullugh (called a Woodchuck) electric wood splitter. It has a 4 ton force and supposedly can split a 20 inch long piece of wood up to 12 inch diameter. I am thinking of keeping it in my basement to split pieces of wood down to kindling size when

| Washing Machine Vibration Problem | 30 Oct 2008 02:40 GMT | 12 |
We have a Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Three-Speed Electronic Washer Model No. GSX9885JQ1, Serial No. CP4602130 installed in April 2003. On the clothes washer's slowest spin cycle, vibration radiates out to 15' enough to loosen drywall screws and cause moldings to separate at

I have a slight contradiction of goals which I am hoping to resolve. I would like to have recessed lights that are as inconspicuous as possible yet fill the room with nice soft light. Do there exist recessed lights that are small (3" or 4"), yet do what

| Political signs | 30 Oct 2008 02:08 GMT | 284 |
In a couple days we'll have plenty of signs going in the scrap. What to do with them? Use the metal for wiring up mufflers? The cardboard to patch holes in the wall?

| HOA removes "Welcome home" signs for vet | 30 Oct 2008 01:36 GMT | 8 |
"[ORANGE PARK, Fla] The family was rolling out the red carpet, so to speak, but the homecoming was dampened by the homeowner association rules. "They removed the welcome home signs and balloons and flags," says Natalie Boitet."

| Light bulb keeps burning out | 30 Oct 2008 01:13 GMT | 22 |
It's the little things that drive you nuts. We've got a light fixture over our kitchen sink. For the first three years of its existence it worked flawlessly. We keep it on 24-7 as a night light and for accent.

| Who to hire to change a lightbulb | 29 Oct 2008 23:55 GMT | 15 |
The lightbulb died in my bedroom. I called my home consultant as well as my insurance agent. I was told this is not covered by insurance and the consultant told me that I need an electrician. I looked up electricians in the yellow book and called one. He told me that he

| Looking for a part - can some one point me to a source? | 29 Oct 2008 19:42 GMT | 6 |
I have a Sears/Kenmore power spray carpet cleaner model 175-81980C and the girlfriend lost my uphostery nozzle part #643737-692 for it. I called sears Canada and I *think* Sears only carries parts for 5 years and it was beneath them (or more likely beyond them) to try to

| Damage recirculating pump? | 29 Oct 2008 17:21 GMT | 10 |
I live in a condo building that has one water heater for all 20 units and a recirculating pump to keep the water warm to all units. I didn't know we had a recirc. pump and was going to have some plumbing work done. The plumber wouldn't do the work unless he could verify whether

| "Paint your house yellow or go to jail" | 29 Oct 2008 16:26 GMT | 11 |
So says a village council in the UK. "A WOMAN who painted her idyllic cottage a subtle shade of blue has been ordered to repaint it bright yellow or face prosecution." http://new.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/68220/
