I thought you folks might get a kick out of this story from my local

oil furnace fuel pump11 Oct 2008 07:15 GMT4
My Olsen furnace is making a whistling noise when using the heating
unit only, there is no noise when using air-con. I believe it is the
fuel pump (A2VA-7116 Suntec) on a Beckett motor. Question:  How do I
replace this pump myself or do I need to hire a furnace contractor.
AC/Heating Checkups11 Oct 2008 03:46 GMT25
My new Trane will be a year old next month and is running fine.  I did
not take the extended warranty which would have required me to have
the dealer come out once a year and check fluid levels.  My question
is:  Is it necessary to do this?  I mean, if the a/c stops cooling I
Aluminum triplex in conduit?11 Oct 2008 03:40 GMT3
Is there any reason not to bury aluminum triplex cable in a rigid
nonmetallic conduit?  This is out in the country, where I don't care
about finer points of the electric code, but it needs to be safe and
generally in compliance.
Heatalator help11 Oct 2008 02:23 GMT4
I have a fireplace with a Heatalator.  Years ago it was converted to
gas log, which is almost useless for heating.  I want to convert it
back to wood, but I am not sure the Heatalator is safe.  Advice much
appreciated!
Why Insulation in Inside Wall?10 Oct 2008 23:36 GMT45
I'm about to hang one of the LED big screen TVs on my wall.  To tidy
it up I decided to run the cables through the wall.  When I cut a hole
in the wall I discovered it was filled with insulation.  It's an
inside wall.  The master bath is on the other side of the wall.  Why
Fiberglass Entry Door10 Oct 2008 23:25 GMT16
SWMBO has decreed that front door must be replaced with a fiberglass
one.  After I don't know how many hours shopping for one she has
narrowed it down to 3 different brands and styles.  Knowing absolutely
nothing about these doors and finding very little of any use on the web
bottom of chimney, fireplace cover10 Oct 2008 19:19 GMT5
At the bottom of my chimney, there is a cover about 10 inch squared, which
can be removed.
Do you know what it is called and where i can buy one from?
The one in the bedroom is missing.
winterizing lawn mower10 Oct 2008 17:02 GMT22
What is the best way to 'winterize' my lawn mower and other seasonal
internal combustion engine yard tools for the next 5-6 months of winter?
thanks all  - paul
Just had a thought about surge suppressors...10 Oct 2008 16:24 GMT55
Does anyone make a plug in suppressor that has TWO coax connections?  I
just realized that I was considering running both cable and an antenna
connection to each TV in my house, but all the surge strips that I have
everything connected to only have connections for one coax (I ...
Repurposing an old blower motor for a grain mill10 Oct 2008 14:54 GMT6
This newsgroup has been very good with these kind of questions, even
if maybe they'd work better in an HVAC repair group or the homebrewing
newsgroup.  I have a grain mill for crushing malt for homebrewing.
The handle method is a pain in the but, and a lot of folks end up
window cleaner10 Oct 2008 13:29 GMT18
Looks like comcast is going to cut the newsgroup feed,so I thought I would
pick your brains one last time. I don't like windex so I would like some
input as to making home brew glass cleaner. With cold weather coming here in
Chicago need to get the windows done ASAP. Noticed ...
Roof runoff10 Oct 2008 13:06 GMT12
Any advice about roof runoff which shoots
over eavestroughs?
Problem occurs at two corners of a steeply gabled
roof over a deck.   Rainfall collects in such volume
Quality of garage floor epoxies10 Oct 2008 08:55 GMT5
Does anyone have any experience (other than flat out guessing based on
advertising!) if the supposedly "high end" garage epoxies would be
much better than the 2-part epoxies such as Rustoleum EpoxyShield?
They have companies that will come in and do the floor for you,
Get women out of bathroom10 Oct 2008 08:30 GMT4
Disgusting post by a juvenile-minded "adult".
a.  It's the exact opposite; the MEN who tie up the bathroom at home
while they read the daily paper -- or their favorite porn mag.
b.  Same at a concert, play, or other event:  Women, for whom
