What glue to attach rigid insulation?15 Oct 2008 02:40 GMT1
I have some steel hatches. They are painted. I plan to glue rigid
insulation to them. I would glue the foil side to the paint, so at least I
won't have to worry about the gluten dissolving the foam. But what glue? I
could use Liquid Nails. Cheaper and messier would be contact cement ...
Paint with what?15 Oct 2008 01:58 GMT9
I got some Behr high-gloss latex enamel with which to paint some trim.
Using a Peavy brush, roller, or foam applicator all yield god-awful results.
Specifically, in the case of the two brushes, the paint looks like it was
applied with a fork. Using a roller, the result looks like ...

Sealing indoor wall from drainage from next door15 Oct 2008 00:35 GMT2
We live in a townhouse and the one next door is somewhat higher than
ours. Previous owners there installed a BIG pool and didn't do
anything much about drainage from their fairly large brick patio.
We had drainage (not really ground water) coming into our dining room
Kenmore Elite dryer won't start14 Oct 2008 23:05 GMT3
We have a 5 year old Kenmore Elite electric clothes dryer.  It has
worked flawlessly until last night.  When I push the start button it
runs fine, until I let go of the button.  As soon as I let go of the
button the dryer stops.  I unplugged and plugged back in the power and
Washing Machine Not Draining14 Oct 2008 22:37 GMT4
I have a Maytag Neptune washing machine that may be about 10 years old.
The machine doesn't fully drain after washing, leaving a small pool of
water in the drum and the close are soaked.  I need to get a repair
manual and take the drum out to see if something blocking the ...
Checking Digital Thermostatat Inside Temperature14 Oct 2008 21:57 GMT39
A friend installed a Honeywell 5+2 Digital Thermostat last weekend.
The inside temperature reads 68 and I am trying to check its accuracy.
I compared it to two free standing digital thermometers which I
balanced on top of the thermostat (at the same time).
how clean does a concrete floor need to be?14 Oct 2008 21:16 GMT11
...to put down tile?
reason I ask this question is I spent last weekend finishing scraping
up the old tiles in my laundry room (I'd done the other half months
ago; then finally I got sick of looking at the job half done and
Topping mix directions are messed up!14 Oct 2008 20:57 GMT1
I'm trying to repair a few small areas in my basement flooring. To do this I
plan on mixing, pouring, and levelling as necessary, using a 5kg bucket of
top mix, made by Ocean. This is a "self levelling" compound.
I have a problem though. The mixing directions say:
paint problem14 Oct 2008 19:41 GMT8
I just finished a painting project on some old plaster that was
patched and restored. It turned out fine. However, there are a few
areas that look like they could have been sanded a little better. The
areas look rough, and if the light hits it right, it really sticks
Pinhole leak in concrete14 Oct 2008 16:31 GMT7
There is a small concrete pit right outside our garage containing a sump
pump that keeps our garage dry in the winter.  There is a pinhole leak in
one corner, the tiny stream of water that comes in this hole after a heavy
rain eventually fills the pit which in theory is supposed ...
SonicScrubber14 Oct 2008 16:24 GMT3
Is the SonicScrubber power scrub brush any good?  Does it work
anywhere near as well as it does in the TV commercial?  Thank you in
advance for all replies.

35" Storm door?14 Oct 2008 14:02 GMT14
I can find 32, 34, and 36. All the homes in my area use 35". That's a
special order so much more expensive. I suppose I could add a wood
strip or two and make it 34, but that seems an odd way to handle it.
Having never replaced a storm door before, I could use a bit of input.
