mystery 29 volts24 Sep 2008 00:21 GMT9
I am going to install a ceiling fan with a light kit in the master
bedroom. The junction box in the ceiling has a 2-conductor wire (plug
ground). I replaced this with a 14-3 wire because I want the ceiling
fan and the light on the fan to have their own seperate power. I wired
Diagnosing a possible drain leak23 Sep 2008 23:13 GMT4
A few months ago I noticed a small water stain appearing where a
plaster crown molding meets the ceiling.  Recently I noticed a
dripping noise after I shut off a sink in a bathroom that's more or
less above the stain.  I might not have noticed it sooner because
outlet replacements23 Sep 2008 20:43 GMT15
I wanted to replace the outlets in my house. They are 40 years old and
many of them are in pretty sad shape. They work, but they've been
painted over and are just at the end of their useful life.
I live in Virginia, do I need to get this kind of work inspected?  Do

Wall Switch for Air Compressor23 Sep 2008 17:57 GMT5
I want to install a dedicated outlet for my garage air compressor.  I
want to put a switch near it, because half the time I unplug it and
the cord falls behind the workbench.  I dont leave it turned on
because all compressors tend to leak a little and just waste
Roof - snow removal23 Sep 2008 15:45 GMT10
I have a two-story home with a metal roof.  I bought the home three
years ago.  Every year ice builds up on the roof ans slowly slides
off.  Last year it became 6 inches thick and when it finally let go it
destroyed my metal bulkhead and damaged my chimney.  I'd like to
Why drive off wooden windowills?23 Sep 2008 15:36 GMT8
I had the wood-framed windows on the West side redone recently by a
professional painter.  They were in terrible shape from years of
neglect and hot sun.  I had prepped some of the sills by sanding a few
years ago, but gave up because the upper part of the frames were so
Gas engine or electric motor for bicycles23 Sep 2008 15:33 GMT7
Anyone have any experience with these.
I did many internet searches on the
subject, but what I'm looking for is
personal experience, i.e. electric vs.
Generator Livin'23 Sep 2008 15:29 GMT39
I'm at day 7 in Cincinnati off the grid - which is nothing to cry about
considering the carnage in Texas!
I have a 30 year old 3500 watt generator from Sears.  So far, it's
working fine.  But I've been reading some of the threads about inverter
Using Extension Cord with Freezer23 Sep 2008 15:22 GMT17
I just purchased a 7 CFT Magic Chef Freezer from the Home
Depot. The place that I want to place it is about 6 feet from the
nearest electrical outlet. Reading the manual it states not to use
extension cords of any kind. Is the reason they put this on for fear
Did you have an erection set?23 Sep 2008 14:30 GMT23
Wjen you were a young boy, did you have an erection set?
It's been determined by psychologists that boys who had erection sets
turned out to be gay.  How about you?  If you had an erection set, are
you gay?
Question on Craftsman Garden Tractor23 Sep 2008 13:50 GMT8
I have a Craftsman lawn tractor, 24 hp, 48" deck, that is almost 3 yrs old
(in a few days).
It has never had a problem until a couple of days ago, and I maintain it
each offseason (change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, clean air
Hardwater accumulations in dishwasher beyond repair?23 Sep 2008 12:53 GMT17
I had posted earlier about a dishwasher that was leaving cloudy
residue in everything. Plus it was not cleaning properly either. The
excellent replies said to clean it out with vinegar. So I tried
several applications of vinegar and stronger citric acids and baking
Kitchen Cabinet Crown Molding23 Sep 2008 11:10 GMT4
I am installing crown molding on my kitchen cabinets.  The problem is
that there is one cabinet that is 6" higher then the rest but they are
all the same depth of 12".  How to I finish the end of the molding
where it meets the taller cabinet.  Since they are all the same depth,
Where to buy rabbit ears?23 Sep 2008 10:48 GMT19
Does anyone sell simple rabbit ear TV antennas anymore?  I got my DTV
boxes today and hooked one up in the bedroom, turns out that my old
rabbit ears allow the box to work, while the shiny new amplified
antenna that I bought doesn't really do a heck of a lot.  I have
