| How Common Was This? | 26 Sep 2008 07:26 GMT | 11 |
I have a house built in the early 1920's. Every wall in every room was wallpapered with the paper applied over the bare plaster, multiple layers no less. No paint, no primer just plaster. It was a major pain to get all the paper off those walls, lots of scrapes and gouges left

| installing connectors on RG-6? | 26 Sep 2008 02:43 GMT | 18 |
since it's not possible to work outside today (thanks Hanna!) I gathered up all the cable stuff I'd gathered in preparation to install a cable outlet in the living room. Before I got started I wanted to make sure that I'd be able to terminate the cable. Well, I can't - I'm ...

| Radon mitigation, electric costs and green living | 25 Sep 2008 20:22 GMT | 2 |
The Wife and I have a contract on a house where the inspection just showed a radon gas level of 13.1 picocuries/liter. Mind you, that's in a house that has been unoccupied for a few months after a foreclosure, but still, over three times the EPA's limit of acceptable risk tells

| Update: trim around bath vent siding (pics) | 25 Sep 2008 19:32 GMT | 4 |
A couple of days ago , I asked for advice how to trim around a bath vent i installed. Because my siding was not flat, I followed the instructions and cut around the whole perimeter of the vent. It turns out Lowes had a mounting block for this purpose. Although it

| Time for a new central AC, need advice. | 25 Sep 2008 19:29 GMT | 38 |
Well my AC has finally kicked the bucket. I had an AC guy (Scott's AC) come out and he is recommending an Amana 13 SEER unit. Is Amana a good brand? This is just for the unit that sits outside of the house, not any heater, air mover(?) that goes inside. I'm getting a quote of ...

There is this one small bright yellow bird that is banging on my kitchen window incessantly. This has been going on for 2 weeks now. I've gone outside and drove him off, sprayed the hose at him, washed down the window but he still comes back. If i drive him away he's back in a ...

I have consistently high humidity levels, never falling below 85% in my new apartment. Today my dial reads 97%. It's bothering me because I also dry my clothes inside and they take a very long time to dry.

| Fuel leak where line enters fuel tank | 25 Sep 2008 16:30 GMT | 8 |
Hi. I hope this is the right group to post this question. I have a weed whacker/trimmer and the fuel line goes from the carb into the fuel tank via a hole in the fuel tank (instead of there being a connector on the fuel tank). Original fuel line was OK in that it was

| crimped versus wirenutted grounds? | 25 Sep 2008 06:48 GMT | 8 |
I replaced an outlet today at a commercial site. Now I admit I don't know anything about commercial electrical, but around here grounds are required to be crimped residentially; wirenutting isn't allowed. I was surprised to see the ground was wirenutted. I assume that if ...

| I have a dead mouse in my AC - need help getting to it? | 25 Sep 2008 04:21 GMT | 24 |
Our house smells horrible. I recently put out some rat poison (first mistake) and now we have an overwhelming smell of a decaying dead animal in our house. I have narrowed it down to our inside AC unit. It seems to be directly below the blower behind the area that has all of ...

| Portable generator parts Generac | 25 Sep 2008 03:40 GMT | 7 |
Looking for a set of engine filters (oil & air) specifically for the Guardian OHIV engine model GH-220 made by Generac for their 4000exl portable generator. When I search the web site it sends me to Briggs and Stratton. A search of local generator dealers was unproductive. TIA
