Porch light install question - additional info01 Sep 2008 16:06 GMT1
Regarding my earlier question about a mounting plate that is too
large, the holes that are for mounting the light to the plate line up
directly with the mounting holes in the box.  I wonder if I could just
mount the light directly to the box using these holes.  The light is
How to fix exterior buried coax cable?01 Sep 2008 16:00 GMT22
First off, let me say that whoever installed this cable was an idiot. Cable
was buried maybe 2" down and snaked out away from the house 6 feet then back
then back 4 feet into a flower bed and toward my front porch then back out
again toward the array of utility boxes in the front ...
How To Measure Roof01 Sep 2008 15:49 GMT11
First thanks for the input about my home equity inquiry.
My first improvement will be a new roof.  I want to be sure I'm not
paying for more bundles of shingles than I will actually need.
So, how do I measure my roof to determine how many bundles will be
Porch light install question01 Sep 2008 15:25 GMT3
The mounting plate is larger than the existing box and the holes to
secure the light are about a bit less than an inch outside the box
over the concrete wall.  Would it be advisable to sink anchors in the
concrete to mount the light on?  The light itself is secured to the
Phone problems after thunderstorm01 Sep 2008 11:47 GMT3
I am trying to help my grandmother with a phone problem. I'm not
entirely sure what's going on (she's very confusing) but some
(possibly all) of the Caller ID displays on her home telephones are
garbled to the point where they're unreadable. I think it happened

Replacing porch light, but no ground wire from house01 Sep 2008 05:03 GMT8
When I removed the old porch light, I found there was no ground wire
from the house and the ground from the light fixture was just loose.
There are just a white wire and a red wire coming from the house.  The
new fixture has a black wire, a white wire and a ground.
Minor door repair advise needed..01 Sep 2008 04:43 GMT10
The door leading into the garage was slightly damaged yesterday when
the moves bumped a furniture against the edge of the door.. The damage
is about 2 inches in length. If I hire a handyman to fix this, what
needs to be done to restore the door?
Attic Fan01 Sep 2008 03:43 GMT61
I have no attic fan to draw out warm air in the summer, and I was
wondering how difficult this is to install?
Or, who can I call to have this put in?  I don't know if I trust going
to home deport and getting a list of contractors from them.  I mean,
Bathtub painting01 Sep 2008 02:06 GMT9
I am considering renovating one of my bathrooms.  The bathtub needs to be
replaced/painted as it is 30 years old.  It is in good condition - no chips,
rust, etc. but it is harvest gold - remember that?  Anyway I need to decide
whether to replace it or have it painted or whatever ...
Underfloor hydronic radiators and hardwood floors01 Sep 2008 01:28 GMT3
You can pretty much guess what my question is. Can underfloor hydronic
radiators work in conjunction with hardwood floors? I can see it being
inefficient + harwood getting damaged over time.
Thank you,
