New Generator will not start13 Sep 2008 22:51 GMT29
Hi, was hoping you could help or point me in the right direction.  I have a
coleman powermate 6250w generator that has been sitting in a box for about 4
years, no gas or old was ever put in.  Today, we go to fire it up, fill it
with oil and fuel, bit it will not start.  The plug ...

We just moved into our new house and the previous owner had some
squares of cord/bark mounted on one of the walls. With alot of effort
we removed all of the squares, but they were held on with somethign
like liquid nails. I scaped off alot of this adhesive and smoothed it
Interpreting HVAC-CALC Results13 Sep 2008 21:24 GMT1
I am converting my garage into a family room. Trying to figure out
whether I can tap into my existing central air or if I need to go with
a ductless mini-split.
Did a HVAC-CALC tonight.
Adding another switch to a relay operated light switch13 Sep 2008 20:36 GMT8
Light switch in my room is operated using a relay (rated 24v-8v). It just like in
the picture http://home.howstuffworks.com/relay1.htm
The top "battery" is ofcourse regular power. The bottom "battery" is operated by
24V transformer.
Flakey Power Outlets13 Sep 2008 18:46 GMT20
Last night, the reading light and clock on my headboard both went out
at the same time.  I jiggled the extension cord plug and they
momentarily came back on but would not stay on.  I figured there might
be a lose wire in the socket and since I didn't want to deal with it
Slightly OT: Neighborhood foreclosures and my home repairs13 Sep 2008 17:18 GMT30
{Sorry if this topic was explored here before}
As I understand the local rumors, my neighborhood has just had its 4th
home sold by way of foreclosure at about $50,000 USD below what I owe on
my mortgage; comparable homes as the real estate folks say.  There are
Some Garmin GPS input please13 Sep 2008 17:10 GMT15
I know this is offtopic, but there seems to be a quite diverse audience
here.
Does anyone here happen to be using either of these garmin models?  The
streetpilot C550, or the streetpilot C580.?  I'm contemplating purchasing
Black Ant Problem13 Sep 2008 16:46 GMT46
I posted the following to alt.lawn.home.garden, with little response.  So
I thought I'd try here...
We live in the Arizona desert near Phoenix and have a significant problem
with large black ants in the yard.  We have had exterminators (costly),
HVAC -- Ductless versus Central Air Upgrade ???13 Sep 2008 16:06 GMT8
We're converting our 300 sq ft garage into a family room. Trying to
decide between a running $2,000 worth of duct versus buying a $4,000
ductless mini-split system. My preference is to go duct and tap into
my central air.
Kitchen stove (oven) runs hot13 Sep 2008 01:29 GMT10
OK, I'm not smart on home repair........  My oven in the kitchen stove runs
around 200 degrees hotter than the knob setting.  Would the most likely
culprit be the oven sensor -- the 2-3 foot wire thermocouple? in the oven --
or could it be something else more likely?  If so, is ...

recipe to restore VOCs?12 Sep 2008 22:17 GMT10
I've used a brand-name semi-trans oil stain on my redwood deck every 2
years. I'm in a semi-arid climate with not much rain, lots of sun, and
cold winters. Mildew and UV damage finally showed up, so last year I
rented a big sander, took it down to good bare wood (after resetting/
