foil faced structural foam board02 Jul 2008 18:41 GMT8
Not sure if this is the correct term, but can foil faced structural foam
board be used as floor underlayment?
Present subfloor is 3/4" plywood.  I'd like to put a layer of the foil
faced board on top and then lay down cement board and finally ceramic

In my kitchen I have 5 recessed can lights mounted in an approximately 6'
circular pattern over the island.  There is no attic access.  I would like
to have a ceiling fan junction box added in the center of the circle of

So tonight I had an unrelated electrical problem and was playing with
the breakers to see what was going on.  I flipped off and on the
refrigerator breaker, and 15 seconds later go into the kitchen, and my
GE Refrigerator had the chilled water coming out the door on its own!

Anyone have experience with Oxymagic carpet cleaners?02 Jul 2008 04:47 GMT1
I got a flyer for Oxymagic in my local valpak mailer.
Anyone have experience with Oxymagic, good or bad? How do their
results compare to traditional steam cleaning and/or ChemDry?
I went to their website, and it's really just a bare bones site
Replacing Hollow Doors with Slabs02 Jul 2008 04:41 GMT11
I have a 1951 vintage house and I've started a campaign to change all the
hollow core doors to 6 panel doors. Because of various settling and trim
issues, I've decided to change the doors only and not the frames.
The original trim carpenter did a great job. The side to side gaps ...
Save on Your Energy Bill. Start Today!02 Jul 2008 04:39 GMT1
Prices for oil and gas continue to increase constantly. Prices are
unlikely to stabilise, which leads to a quickly growing inflation. We
cannot prevent this inflation from taking place, but with changing
some things at home we can lessen the impact it has on our lives.
Digging reservoir in shallow stream01 Jul 2008 23:03 GMT25

DIY Battery Backup Sump Pump System01 Jul 2008 20:14 GMT8
I am in the market for a battery backup sump pump system.  I have
searched around for best pricing, and it would seem that everything is
INCREDIBLY expensive (or so I think).  I thought it was ridiculous to
pay $130.00 for a small backup pump.  I guess to soften the blow it
Cracking cement question01 Jul 2008 19:50 GMT15
I set 8 posts in concrete yesterday. Today, I look at them and see half of
them have developed cracks in the concrete, usually just one crack radiating
from the post to the end of the concrete, looking from the top. Should I
worry about this? Is this normal, or an indication that ...
KITCHEN PANTRY and new Cabinets????01 Jul 2008 17:06 GMT4
We just purchased a whole set of Cardell cabinets for our kitchen and
we're going to be doing the prep and installation ourselves.  We opted
to "not" but the pantry unit from them as the cost put it well over
our limited budget.  Instead we're going to make a framed in drywalled
Need to replace regulator on gas grill01 Jul 2008 16:32 GMT3
I have a Vermont Castings LP grill that I got at Home Despot. The
regulator seems to work intermittently. On this model, the regulator
is on a hose right after the LP tank attachment, then goes to another
hose which attaches to the grill.
