Adhesive for polyethylene sheeting16 Jul 2008 04:53 GMT10
I'm putting polyethylene sheeting on the floor of a crawlspace.  My
plan is to run it up the walls (concrete block) and glue it to the
wall to seal and adhere it.  Can someone recommend a good adhesive for
this application?  Predictably, perhaps, water-based adhesives don't
generator - HELP how to drain gas16 Jul 2008 04:42 GMT15
We bought a generator (15000 watt portable Guardian 04582 Guardian
Ultra Source). The manual says to drain gas when storing the
generator. It does NOT say HOW to drain the gas and we cannot find a
dump valve anywhere.
Island Countertop Overhang Problem16 Jul 2008 04:27 GMT19
I made a poor design choice and ordered an island/peninsula in my
kitchen with a 9" overhang for use as a breakfast bar.  Once the
quartz countertop was installed, it was obvious that 9" was too
shallow, and I should have gone for at least 12" or 13" to make it a

Any helpful tips I should be aware of first - other than shutting off
the water co. valve first obviously and opening up some faucets to
Insulation Overload16 Jul 2008 04:12 GMT4
Everytime we are told to conserve energy, they tell us to insulate.
Everytime they tell us to insulate, I have insulated.
Now there is so much insulation in my house, I can barely get in the
door, and I cant even get to the furniture because it's all buried in

Electric motor repair/replace?16 Jul 2008 02:47 GMT9
I have a GE 1/2hp motor (Lead-R-Line model 5KH47HR1086) used on an
evaporative cooler that has sealed bearings and a mounting "disk?" on
each end. Is there any way to remove the mounts and repack or replace
the bearings?
Recylcle batteries, paint, cellphones, televisions.   It says where.16 Jul 2008 00:15 GMT1
Looks like a good page but makes no distinction between chargeable and
rechargeable batteries.

It also says Office Depot will accept televisions.   I have my doubts.
Japanese beetles - how long do they hang around?16 Jul 2008 00:12 GMT8
This is the worst I've ever seen.  They're just swarming everywhere,
and it's like driving through hail!
They're devouring some of our trees.
Anyone remember how long they live?
Removing slight rises in concrete floor?16 Jul 2008 00:08 GMT7
I'm getting ready to lay a laminate floor in my basement. The floor is
smooth enough, except for two places.
In one place, there was a 2'x4' when the floor was poured. This created a
raised area and a lip, as well as a depression where the 2'x4' was. I have

vertical blinds connector ?15 Jul 2008 22:30 GMT3
Our rear doors are covered by a 112" W x ~86" H set of vertical

The issue is that the plastic piece that connects the fabric vanes to
Pressure washing left discolored areas on roof15 Jul 2008 22:10 GMT7
I have read that an asphalt shingle roof should not be pressure washed,
but I have also read that it is ok at low pressure.
Using low pressure, a guy pressure washed my asphalt shingle roof. Now
there are some irregular areas that are lighter than the rest. The
replace motion sensor with dimmer switch?15 Jul 2008 21:20 GMT6
Hi, I have a motion sensor switch in my new bathroom.  It's all up to code

inspected, but I need a dimmer switch in my bathroom, not a motion sensor
switch.
Venting Microwave with Partial Wall Cabinets????15 Jul 2008 20:12 GMT11
I am pretty much convinced that I want to vent my stove in our new
kitchen, but we're designing in an over-the-stove microwave and the
cabinet above the microwave does not go all the way to the ceiling.  I
have been looking at how a clothes dryer vent works running up in the
