High-Speed Connection Questions23 Jul 2008 12:12 GMT33
Verizon broadband is now available here, but the web site doesn't
answer whether it's possible to have broadband and dial-up
simultaneously on the same PC.  I'd like to retain a cheap dial-up to
use as a back-up ISP connection.

My 5 year old ggenie garage door opener started misbehaving in the
past month or so.
It will open by itself. Once it's open, I can't close it with the

Old Air Conditioners23 Jul 2008 04:27 GMT9
My daughter is renting a lovely older home in New Jersey with three
~20 or more year old Air Conditioners in it.
They don't work, they just blow air hot air. Does it make any sense to
try and get them repaired?

Experience with Home Depot or Lowe's Wood Fence Purchase/Installation?23 Jul 2008 03:28 GMT8
We would like to fence in our back yard with 6' x 8' wood fence panels (I
would guess using 4" x4" posts).  Wood choices would be probably white
pine, white cedar, red cedar, or redwood for the panels.  The total
perimeter is approximately 200 lineal feet.  We would probably ...
Soldering tips/advice23 Jul 2008 01:42 GMT21
I just tried to solder a 1/2 inch copper  coupling to a 1/2 inch piece of
pipe.  I put soldering paste inside the coupling, gave the 1/2 pipe a good
going over with a file (i didn't have sandpaper) and also put soldering
paste on the 1/2 inch pipe.  I inserted the pipe inside the ...

Mice and rats23 Jul 2008 01:35 GMT17
I had mice when I first bought my house but got rid of them. I am now
thinking of putting rat and mouse traps outside and get them before they
can cause harm. It's not illegal is it? Why isn't there an active
government program to trap and kill wild mice and rats to keep them ...

Hi, folks. I could use some advice about finishing my laundry room.
First, I live in a really old house, which was renovated in the late
90s. The did a terrible job on the utility room. There are a number of
issues that I'm resolving this summer, but the one that I fear the
Johnson Grass22 Jul 2008 23:53 GMT21
I know this is not a gardening newsgroup, but I don't know where else to
go for help.  Hopefully, someone can assist me.
I have this pesky Johnson Grass (also known as Orchard Grass)
invading my lawn.  I am very fussy about my grass, and this is a small
Multiwire circuit on 208v?22 Jul 2008 21:54 GMT10
I want to add a circuit to a 208 panel, but there are no holes and I really
don't want to go at it with a hole saw.
There is a circuit consisting of one outlet connected to the box by 1/2"
conduit.  If multiwire circuits are allowed on 208v, I could put the outlet

Brick chimney question22 Jul 2008 19:24 GMT2
Are brick chimneys attached to the house with fasteners of some sort ,
or are they usually built free standing next to the house? I was on
the roof yesterday inspecting my chimney and when I gave it a bang
with my fist, it seemed to move a little. I don't see any signs of
What does it harm...22 Jul 2008 18:36 GMT18
