Walling up the garage - brick or vinyl?31 Jul 2008 21:23 GMT19
Moved into our row home in November and the previous owners finished
the basement but left the metal garage door in place, so it gets cold
down there during the winter (not sure how they put up with that).
Also, the original entrance door (no storm door) has light coming
Dishwasher hookup leak31 Jul 2008 20:36 GMT20
Just got a new dishwasher (Kenmore model 665.13834) and I'm having
trouble with the water hookup. I bought the required elbow that goes
between the water supply line and the water inlet valve. I just CANNOT
get it to not leak. I think I've finally gotten it to stop dripping
Auto Paint Query31 Jul 2008 19:29 GMT46
I decided to do some touch-up painting on my car where the road
pebbles had dinged the paint on the hood in the front near the
headlight. I ordered the correct touch-up paint based on the paint
color number. I guess I got a little overzealous in my usage, because
A/C electrical problem31 Jul 2008 18:12 GMT20
Periodically, about 2-3 times a year, I notice an error code on our
thermostat, E2, which indicates a problem with the 24 v. power to it.
But before I can even do anything, within an hour or so, it's always
resolved itself. It's out again now, but this time I noticed that it
cigarette burn marks on bathroom sink31 Jul 2008 17:40 GMT7

Aluminum soffit installation problem-How would the pros handle this problem?31 Jul 2008 12:42 GMT4
I'm planning on installing aluminum soffit and fascia on my garage. The
garage is ~20 years old, with existing wood soffit and fascia which hangs
1.25" below the soffit. In other words, the soffit is countersunk approx
1.25". The soffit and fascia look similar to this:
Paparazzi bothering my home repairs31 Jul 2008 07:31 GMT8
I am trying to repair my home.  Everytime I get my tools out, these
Paparazzis start taking pictures and getting in the way.  I cant get
any work done with them around.  I asked them why they want pictures
and they just said it's interesting what I do, and they are hoping to
Lawmover repair question31 Jul 2008 05:12 GMT14
I have Toro 6.5 Self propelled lawn mover.  The mover cuts off when I
move it backwards.  I replaced the air filter and the spark plug but
it still seems to be doing the same thing.  No problems when i depress
the leveler to move it forward or keep it running in one position.
Pool Table Repair31 Jul 2008 05:04 GMT7
I just finished reassembling my pool table after months of having it sit
waiting for new flooring.  I got the base reconstructed, put the slate on
the base, shimmed, and put the screws in the slate to hold it to the base.
I can sit a ball anywhere on the table, and it doesn't ...
Drywall screw damage - any way to reuse the same spot?31 Jul 2008 05:00 GMT7
Moved into house that has many problems with loose screws in the
drywall. Clueless previous owners were using regular screw directly
onto drywall. Toilet paper and towel holders are all barely hanging
there. In some places the holes are now bigger than drywall inserts.
Problem with Painter31 Jul 2008 03:40 GMT8
Here is the situation.  We hired a professional painting contractor.  We
have a 1920's stucco bungalow in CA.  The painter gave us an estimate.  We
accepted his bid.  Not the cheapest, but not the highest.  Some background
information:  we bought the house 4 years ago from flippers. ...
New Furniture Gas-out..31 Jul 2008 03:16 GMT4
I looked for a bookcase headboard locally and online. The only ones I
found were online and a couple of grand.
So, I lifted the measurements from one I liked and built it. After
letting everything dry and settle down after it was stained and sealed,
Question About Stucco31 Jul 2008 02:50 GMT56
I'm thinking about moving to Florida's gulf coast, where nearly all
the homes have a stucco exterior. I've heard that stucco requires
"treatment" or painting about every 5-7 years. Is this true? Would
appreciate responses from group members with personal knowledge -
Closing Up A Drywall Cutout ?31 Jul 2008 02:36 GMT12
Have a hole cut in a drywall wall in bathroom that was cut to get at a
leaking pipe.
It's about 12" x 8" or so.
I guess the best thing would be to cut a new piece of drywall of approx. the
