Plumbing Code for Dummies04 Apr 2008 13:42 GMT1
DeWalt has published a new plumbing field reference based on the 2006
International Plumbing Code.  It is only 25 bucks.  If it saves you one
trip to the hardware store, it has paid for itself.

Plumbing: What size hot water pipe do I need?04 Apr 2008 13:21 GMT8
I need to run hot water to lavatories, sinks, tubs, showers, washing
machine, dishwasher and a 60 gallon whirlpool tub in my home.  Especially
for the sinks and lavatories I would like to use the smallest size pipe
that will provide sufficient flow.  Lavatories and sinks often use

I'm getting ready to sell my old house, down to the final handy-man type
fixups. One problem is the ceiling tiles in the  basement. The house is
50 yr old and I suspect these tiles have been there for a good portion
of its history.  The tiles are those square ones the consistency of

skinny Federal Pacific breakers04 Apr 2008 01:39 GMT16
I ran a new circuit in my brother-in-laws condo that has all FPE
panels. I needed a spare breaker and came across the skinny breakers
that take up 1/2 of a normal breaker slot.
Are these breakers suppose to be that loose when you put them in?

I have a hardwired smoke detector that is old and outdated, that I'd
like to switch with a new unit.  The only problem is that I can't
shut
off the power to the alarm before I disconnect it and reconnect the
dryer motor03 Apr 2008 20:34 GMT21
I have a GE DDE7208 dryer with a 5KH26JJ motor.  When the motor is
stationary, the centrifugal switch energizes the start winding along
with the run winding.  When I depress the starter, the motor hums but
does not turn even with the belt off.  That points to a bad motor, but I
How to fix low water pressure03 Apr 2008 19:46 GMT5
Well my last post got useful replies, so I'm posting again.
I live on a really old farm house (>200 years) in Switzerland.  It's
fantastic, but the water pressure is too low.  Showering is unpleasant,
and it would be nice to have more pressure in the sink too.
Furnace recommendations03 Apr 2008 18:17 GMT16
I am in need of a new furnace for a rental property. The property is a
small cape, and the size of the furnace needed is 85K BTU, and it uses

I'm told by friends that the brand of furnace is less important than
