Posted to ahr.
Can I build a deck, two feet above the ground, that can later be
partly or totally disassembled and moved away temporarily?
I"m thinking that if instead of nails, I used lag screws and deck
model 6216 Simplicity unable to put into 2 & 3 gear09 Apr 2008 18:54 GMT1
Goes smoothly into reverse and 1st gear. Only excessive force will put
it into 2 & 3. Any hint what may be happening?
Also, what is the procedure to remove the rear axles? Want to remove
the shroud (which includes the batter platform, etc) that is
Painting Galvanized Sheet Metal09 Apr 2008 17:57 GMT4
I bought a used trailer with a homemade box on it.  The walls are
plywood, the roof is galvanized sheet metal.  The galv. roof was bare
for at least 5 years, so the metal had plenty of weathering to remove
the oils that are on new galvanized metal.   Last summer I painted the
Disconnecting a washing machine09 Apr 2008 17:38 GMT1
G'day folks:
Just a quick question - how easy is it to disconnect a washer? My new
one is being delivered on the weekend, and they'll install the new
one, take the old one away - as long as it's been disconnected.
Deck Repair09 Apr 2008 17:25 GMT3
The concrete deck around my pool is beginning to show wear.  There are
places where water dripped down from the gutter and it has worn away
the concrete ... is it possible to fill in these spaces?  I tried it
last year but it rained soon after I filled the holes and it just
Alternative to copper tubing for lpg09 Apr 2008 17:03 GMT20
I will be installing quite a bit of copper tubing. Probably a 60' run of
3/8" hi-pressure run and several normal pressure 1/2" runs in the
neighborhood of 50-75 feet and possibly a 3/4" run of 25 feet or so (large
tankless water heater).
The Basement Watchdog sump pump float switch location09 Apr 2008 15:03 GMT1
I purchased the "The Basement Watchdog" combo unit (primary sump pump
with backup reassembled), before installing it I have one question, the
location of the primary pump float switch on the unit will keep the top
of the primary pump above water level and exposed, is it ...
Will Liquid Nails bleed through composite marble window sills?09 Apr 2008 03:37 GMT16
The guy at Home Depot said that if I use Liquid Nails to adhere my
window sills - which he said are some kind of composite marble, not
true marble - directly to the exposed wood frame of the window, over
time it will bleed through and become visible in the shape that it's
Lawn Help09 Apr 2008 02:55 GMT9
Ok, year #2 in the beautiful newly built house in the NE with the
crappy lawn.  Builder half-assed it and the lawn is sparse with a lot
of crabgrass.  I don't need a "home and garden" lawn but I'd like some
grass !
Circuit Breaker Indication In A House Service Box Question09 Apr 2008 02:42 GMT4
Is it possible that when a circuit breaker in a service box opens due to a
short in the circuit that it is controlling, that the lever does not (also)
move to the other position ?
e.g., that there might not be any visible indication that it has tripped ?
Confirming simple wiring task09 Apr 2008 01:09 GMT2
Redid a small wiring chore at a cabin last weekend, and have been thinking
about the way I did it, wondering if a real electrician would have done it
differently (besides in 1/10 the time).
Have a 14/2 running to a double box in a wall.  Installed two single pole
Experience with "Direct Buy?"08 Apr 2008 23:11 GMT20
All,
Have you tried the direct buy warehouse?  I hear the radio commercial about
saving thousands on a single purchase.  If you've tried it or know someone
who has, what's been the experience?  Positive?  Negative?  It seems like
Ball Park Estimate08 Apr 2008 21:40 GMT6
Could anybody give me a ball park on the cost of a Payne PF4M Fan
Coil?  the unit cost and installation cost.  My ripoff home warrenty
co. wants to give me only 600.00 for both.  I can't even get anyone to
look at the Payne unit.  I call HAVC companies and they tell me, are
Trickle Chargers?08 Apr 2008 16:05 GMT2
"Many battery manufacturers do not recommend long term ( months at a
time) trickle charging. If trickle charging is used then the charge
rate should be very low or only intermittent. The best smart chargers
will only send an occasional pulse charge to the battery once it is
Basement Drywall Glued On?08 Apr 2008 14:31 GMT5
The basement in my house had unfinished drywall on all the concrete
walls when I bought the place.  The one thing I noticed was that it
was glued up - I've never really seen that done but I know it's not
that uncommon.
