Chimney repair: who do I believe?19 Apr 2008 18:11 GMT18
Hello, all: I'd be grateful if someone could give me some advice on two
points.
1.  Last autumn I had a chimney cleaner come over and he told me that I
needed a steel liner in my chimney (to the tune of $2,500).  My house is
Paint For Inside Microwave Oven19 Apr 2008 16:25 GMT11
Our kitchen's GE microwave oven is still working fine, but the white
paint on the oven floor is cracked and peeling off where the rollers on
the round three wheeled carriage under the rotating glass dish have been
rolling over it for a few years now.
Re-stretching carpet19 Apr 2008 15:53 GMT1
A water-leak in a bathroom got a 3-ft by 8-ft section of a wall-to-
wall carpet in an adjoining bedroom wet.
I've pulled the damp section of carpet off the tack strips, removed
the pad and wooden tack-strips.
Looking for a little saw advice19 Apr 2008 15:35 GMT18
My wife and I are about to install a hardwood floor and we're looking
to purchase a saw for this project as well as future projects.  This
would have been an easy decision until my father-in-law complicated
things by saying that I would never regret buying a radial arm saw.

stucco on ceiling?19 Apr 2008 13:50 GMT7
I bought a house with a large drywalled ceiling on an outdoor lanai.  While
it doesn't get wet, the drywall tape separates and it's clear from the
patching that this has happened frequently in the past.  So I'm exploring
some alternative ceilings and someone suggested putting up ...

electrical help needed19 Apr 2008 06:36 GMT11
What's happening inside a socket (presumably) when turning on a light
causes the circuit to shut off? Not plugging/unplugging it, but rather
activating it? Here's the situation:
The room has a clock radio and a lamp with a CF bulb in it, and was

Breakers compatible with Federal Pacific Stab-Lok Load Center18 Apr 2008 19:02 GMT12
Hi all.  I want to replace my existing Federal Pacific Stab-Lok Load
Center breaker box because the reports that I've heard about it scare
me, and I want to rewire my whole house because the old wiring scares
me.  I have a replacement plan in mind, and before I bring in someone
Island sink vent loop questions18 Apr 2008 18:19 GMT2
I'm planning the DWV plumbing for a kitchen island sink and have a few
questions about the requisite vent loop.  We're on the 2006 UPC here
and air admittance valves are not allowed.  I'm using the following
image as a reference:
EMBARQ DSL - is this considered a "normal" deal? Experiences with     EMBARQ DSL?18 Apr 2008 13:36 GMT42
I've been thinking of getting DSL. EMBARQ offers what at first glance
seems like a decent deal 19.95/mo but looking at the "fine print" I'm
a bit put off.
-$99 "early termination fee". - So, if you decide the service stinks
