IDT wants to charge me a dollar to send me a bill07 Feb 2008 23:58 GMT14
I asked for a hard copy bill, only because it is a pain in the a.s to
have to log on to the utility company's web site to check my bill.
I would love it if they just sent the statement in an email, but they
don't do it that way.  I have to set up a username and password.

Toilet leaks at base.07 Feb 2008 21:45 GMT11
Our toilet leaks at the base and rots the wood floor.  We've pulled it
twice now, cleaned the junction, replaced the wax ring, and reseated
it.  It still leaked. Now we've had the wood floor repaired from the
water damage, and I don't want this to occur again.
Do reduced flow shower heads increase potential for leaks?07 Feb 2008 18:58 GMT8
Seems to me that flow restriction would create a back pressure in the
plumbing upstream of the shower head which would be greater than a free flow
head.  In particular, a leak could be created at the gooseneck connection
behind the wall, which would be undetectable until major ...
Dishwasher doesn't wait to fill07 Feb 2008 18:02 GMT11
Don't know if this is a timer problem or ??
The dishwasher doesn't wait for all the water to be piped in; it starts
prematurely and washes or rinses without enough water, so the top shelf
really doesn't get clean or rinsed because there's not enough water to get
Brand new bathroom fan making whining noise - any remedy?07 Feb 2008 13:19 GMT13
Wanted to see if someone can suggest what to do. A brand new (two weeks
old) bathroom fan (supposedly low-noise variety) started making rather
loud whining noises. On and off but lately more often on than off.
What could the cause be and what can I do about it? The mounting bracket
Using  recessed clock outlet in back of fridge to save space07 Feb 2008 06:14 GMT9
I recently renovated my kitchen and had gotten a counter depth fridge.
What I've noticed is that it does stick out a little and I noticed
that it's because the right angle plug is hitting the back of the
fridge. Apparantly, GE fails to inform you that the plug is 1+ inch

Anti-Freeze in Boiler??07 Feb 2008 02:55 GMT12
My oil company has suggested putting anti-freeze in my boiler to avoid
the possibility of freeze-ups.
It sounds  like a good idea, but I was wondering if anyone has ever
done it and how did it work??
Hot water heat acting weird07 Feb 2008 02:43 GMT12
We have a hot water baseboard heater with 5 zones from 1994ish that
recently started acting weird.
About 3 months ago, I noticed that the expansion tank was leaking at
the seam...so I replaced it with new.  For about 3 weeks, the system
Man sucked into Satellite Dish explodes and dies07 Feb 2008 02:12 GMT16
December 25, 2007
It began as a happy Christmas on 21st Avenue, but ended in trajedy.
Robert Kellington loved his television, and had at least one set in
every room of the house, all connected to his satellite system.  On
Sump Pump cycle07 Feb 2008 02:08 GMT4
When my sump runs and discharges fine but after the cycle it kicks on
and off about 3 or 4 times for like 2 seconds, not even long enough to
lift the water.  Then it's fine till the next full discharge. This
happens after a full discharge cycle. Do you think it's the check
Flat Roof Question07 Feb 2008 00:53 GMT12
Any ideas for a good DIY way to do an almost flat roof, at or about a
1or2-12 pitch?  Thanks.

More about kitchen venting hoods07 Feb 2008 00:31 GMT15
Anticipating a new roof in the near future, we've been looking into
also adding a venting hood over the range oven combo.  The range is
on an inside wall and has a basic residential grease trap "hood".
We like high-temperature stir frys, deep frys, and (ultra messy)
slippery ramp06 Feb 2008 23:04 GMT17
I recently purchased a fancy new trailer which has and integral ramp.
The rear door folds down like a garage door to make a ramp.  The
problem is that the ramp gets slippery with all the ice and snow
around here.  Who has ideas on how to make the ramp less slippery?
