Electrical again-Ceiling fixtures10 Feb 2008 05:27 GMT8
I have a recessed fixture I'd like to convert to a surface mount fixture.
1.  I'd remove the bulb and screw in a plug adaptor into the socket. Then
(power's off of course) plug in the male end of a extension cord, cut to
about 6 inches with the two ends stripped. Attach these two ...
pvc/abs glue10 Feb 2008 05:19 GMT5
I have some abs pipe.  I am trying to find some abs pipe extenders.  I have
bought some before at the pool place, but now all they have is pvc.  All I
am finding online is pvc.  Still looking for ABS, and have e mails into
quite a few companies.
Take yer gun to the mall10 Feb 2008 04:11 GMT527
I saw a clear full body picture of the Omaha shooter.  Anyone who had a
concealed weapon and who could shoot decently could have lessened the
carnage.  If you got a CCW, carry your weapon.

Re: Knob and Tube BETA-3310 Feb 2008 03:59 GMT45
This is just a general question, not aimed at anyone's
previous posting.
I have an old, 2-story house, about 1500 sq. ft., built in
1911, with knob & tube wiring and 60-amp service (fuse box).
plumbing standards10 Feb 2008 02:04 GMT6
Today I spent 15 minutes fixing a bathtub faucet -- but I spent over 2
hours looking for proprietary parts.  Does the lack of plumbing
standards seem particularly absurd to anyone else?
I'm wondering what it would take to force some standards on this out
2" abs pipe extenders10 Feb 2008 01:24 GMT5
I have been trying to find these, but only come up with pvc.  I have bought
abs from local pool supply houses in the past, but now all they have is pvc.

refrigerator door is not closing tightly.10 Feb 2008 01:18 GMT11
Friends have a large built-in made in 1992.  I think the brand is
sub-zero.  No freezer in this large box.
Door does not close tightly unless pushed tight.
Machine appears to be tipped back a little (as it should be)

My sister father-in-law passed away about 4 months ago. He was a wood worker

windows this spring and have some questions (the exterior of the house
has flat wood composition siding):

sink disposals09 Feb 2008 21:39 GMT13
Is one brand of kitchen sink disposal concidered better than another? Mine
is grinding itself apart, literally. Any  tips on replacing it?
thanks

2 Electrical Questions: Loops in Service Panel, Slack at Boxes09 Feb 2008 21:20 GMT5
Folks:
More a style question than a code question.
Do you feel it is preferable to pull the service conductors into the
panel
Pre-pasted wallpaper -- does the adhesive deteriorate in storage?09 Feb 2008 19:55 GMT4
We have some pre-pasted wallpaper we bought about 5 years ago and never
used. Now, in a new house, we're trying to use it, but it doesn't want
to stick -- not just at the edges, but anywhere. Yes, I have followed
the instructions: immerse in water -- reverse rolled -- for no more ...
liquid vapor barrier09 Feb 2008 19:33 GMT3
I have a 100 year old house and was thinking of a few ways that I
could save on insulating and vapor barrier. The house has already been
re-drywalled once laminated over the existing plaster by the former
owner so I would rather not get into a huge reno that for certain
noisy water heater09 Feb 2008 18:10 GMT1
We have a 75 gallon, 75,100 BTU natural gas water (State Industries,
"Select" model) that probably is seven years old. I routinely drain water
off the bottom valve to flush out any sediment.
Lately I have noticed that when burner is on, it "clunks" and "knocks"
plz help?  gas shut off accidently (!)09 Feb 2008 12:50 GMT8
I own a restaurant that is adjacent to a day spa.  Apparently, the spa
didn't pay their gas bill, so the gas company came out to shut their
gas off, but they accidently shut mine off instead!  We're not open
for lunch so didn't know about this until our crew came in at 4.
