Insurance on heating system? ? ?17 Feb 2008 01:08 GMT7
Our very old six-unit coop building uses an oil-fired boiler furnace. The
last one we had lasted for only eight years.

Propane vs. Nat. Gas17 Feb 2008 01:06 GMT55
I live in a rural area currently with electric only.  No pun intended.
There are rumors of nat. gas coming soon, but who knows when.  We want a gas
stove.  Am considering propane.  I have a propane stove at the cabin and it
works fine.  Heats fast, bakes good.  We don't use it a ...

Anyone have any luck removing a section of masonite siding without destroying the overlapping piece above it????  When I try to pry out the nails they just pull through and I mess up the piece above trying to get them out.
Woodwork refinishing16 Feb 2008 21:25 GMT4
I have a home that is about 90 years old and all the Walnut trim in my
house is original, yet needs some TLC in order to bring it back to its
original luster.
I have never undertaken anything like this, and would like to know if

older wiring devices - flat head screws?16 Feb 2008 15:46 GMT4
started cleaning up some old brass switch and receptacle plates today in
preparation for rewiring one of the bedrooms.  These are the old .040"
thick solid brass plates, not new hardware store ones.  Anyway I test
fit them on some devices and it appears that they may be resting ...
What is the difference between a $7 housing and a $120 housing for recessed lights?16 Feb 2008 15:43 GMT1
OK I need some education here.
Juno sells the IC-906 or TC-906 series recessed light housing for $120 +.
Halo has a IC rated 6" housing for $7.99 at Home Depot.
What is the qualitative difference?  I am not talking about the trim, and
Garbage Disposal Question16 Feb 2008 14:55 GMT8
When I run the garbage disposal the water comes up in the sink next to
it. Otherwise both sinks drain fine. Why does the wtaer come up in the
other sink when the disposal is run?
Patio Question16 Feb 2008 14:51 GMT1
I would like to put a brick paver patio in my backyard, and I have
done the research regarding the amount of aggregate and sand that
needs to be placed under the pavers to keep them stable.  I figure I
will need to dig about 6 - 8" into the ground and begin layering my
Costco Declining?16 Feb 2008 14:33 GMT2
Anyone notice a decline in Costco quality, especially in the tools section?
It used to be that I could buy multiple rolls of duct tape or 3M blue
masking tape for a great price.  That stuff is no longer carried.  Not to
mention the air nailers, etc. I could go on about stuff, but ...
