Plumbing challenge?20 Feb 2008 00:44 GMT12
Here's what I'd like to do:
Run well water through a geothermal heat exchanger and then discharge the
same water into the yard and eventually into a pond.
I prefer not to go underground and below frost depth with discharge pipe.
fluorescent shop light puzzle19 Feb 2008 22:50 GMT12
The fluorescent shop light in my garage (2 bulbs) stopped turning on

them a bit, but then that stopped too. I removed one of the starters,
thinking it might need replacing, and discovered that as I removed it
Kitchen Happiness!19 Feb 2008 21:21 GMT1
The people we chose our range hood from (a minor miracle in and of
itself as we literally wanted something impressionist inspired) also

too. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I'm amazed and pleased, but

Hi, I have 4 audio cables entering the wall of my house through a hole
that is missing its wallplate/faceplate. These cables go to speakers
around the house. Because of this, during winter, cold air comes
through this hole. Is there some kind of faceplate that can allow

I just ran a bat out of my house19 Feb 2008 17:22 GMT45
Still can't figure out how he got in.

It made a vibrating sound when I had the blanket over it.
Electric hot water tanks - thermostat19 Feb 2008 15:52 GMT19
I have two 75 gallon(US) electric hot water tanks plumbed in parallel.

sooner than we used to with similar use patterns. Water temp is ...
slab movement 1.5" within 40 feet19 Feb 2008 14:17 GMT28
I am planning to buy a house. Hill country, Austin TX. The house was
built in 1978, 3BR, 1800 sq feet, 2 stories. The soil is rather
"rocky" there. As I saw a couple of diagonal crack coming from the
windows I contracted a foundation inspector to check up the slab

fluorescent light question19 Feb 2008 03:37 GMT11
if you take two tubes out of a four tube fixture, is there any current
flowing through the unused ballast?  (assume two ballasts, one for each
pair of tubes.)  Any downside to doing so?  I'd only like to leave this
