Seen at a "real paint store"21 Feb 2008 14:25 GMT4
I've often seen here recommendations to go to "a real paint store"
rather than to HD or Lowe's.
Does Sherwin-Williams fall into that category? I would have assumed so,
but a couple of days ago in our local one I was SprayTech paint
Painting on bathroom tile?21 Feb 2008 13:50 GMT13
My wife painted the bathroom sort of a carmel color, and the pink inlay
(about 1 inch high) on the white bathroom tile, which runs on three
walls, just doesn't match!
Can I paint this gloss white with any sort of success? Which paint
Cutting circular holes in plastered ceiling for recessed light housing21 Feb 2008 12:57 GMT7
I posted a query last week about cutting a straight line along plastered
wall with gypsum lath with a concrete block wall about 3/8" behind it and PT
furring strips in between, and it was chewing up the blade and someone
suggested using a skilsaw or jigsaw.  I have not tried it ...
Light cove21 Feb 2008 03:27 GMT15
I am toying with the idea of building a light cove around the entire living
room (about 28'x22') then use recessed lights and other lights towards the
middle.
My idea is to attach a 2x6 horizontally to the concrete block wall, which
Dealing with contactors' honest mistakes21 Feb 2008 03:09 GMT17
What's a good way to approach the situation where the contactor
overlooked something. I understand that a contractor cannot foresee
everything and that some unfortunate things will happen.
In my situation, the contractor put an outlet where it will become
Window based AC unit that can run at very cold outside temps? Seeking     solns to a heat issue...21 Feb 2008 02:43 GMT8
I have a small office, with alot of computer equipment.. I'm trying to

without breaking the bank or getting involved in major construction
changes..

front room furniture?
You can buy a well made set of patio furniture....
Flat roof materials20 Feb 2008 23:17 GMT5
I've looked in to this and it looks straightforward enough that me and
a friend could replace my rubber roof with new EPDM.
My question is that I know it has a slight pitch to direct rain water
towards the drain, but what was used to shape the roof?  When I bought
Need some electrical know-how20 Feb 2008 23:15 GMT10
I have a very old table saw (runs off a pulley) that won't start
unless I give the pulley wheel a gentle spin just as I turn on the
switch to the saw. I'd like not to have to start the saw this way (for
obvious reasons), but don't know enough about electrical motors,
Driveway gate stopped working20 Feb 2008 21:08 GMT2
Our USAutomatic Patriot gate completely stopped moving. I noticed the
battery power was low. So I hooked up my car battery charger to it (as
if I'm doing car jumpstart). Voltage came back up to > 12 volts. But
pressing the remote control button still only caused a clicking sound

copper tub spout pipe roughness problems20 Feb 2008 19:58 GMT2
I was performing what should have been the simple replacement of a
squealing tub spout with a new one, but I managed to mess it up good.
The tub spout that I purchased required an underlying adapter that
attached to the 1/2" copper pipe and then the spout fit over it.  The

kitchen hood with L-shaped chimney??20 Feb 2008 19:43 GMT1
In our kitchen, the conduit hole is not directly above the cooktop --
so if we were to put in a kitchen hood, we would have to put a kink in
the flue. Surely there is a kitchen hood out there that is not just T-
shaped or box shaped to accommodate kitchen situations where the duct
