Drill Bit Recommendation31 Jan 2008 23:22 GMT20
I just burned up 2 good quality blade type wood bits in this old house I
am rehabbing (very hard wood and nails)trying to drill holes for running
my electrical.  My guess is to just get a 5/8 metal bit.  Any
recommendations on what would work better?  Thanks.

Gerard metal roof???31 Jan 2008 20:50 GMT9
Had a guy come by and give me a quote for a fancy metal roof by Gerard.
I drove by 5 of the completed roof addresses he gave me and they do look great,
but they are very pricey. About twice my last roof.
He says lifetime warranty, parts & labor, not pro-rated or 50 years from date ...
Water won't get hot31 Jan 2008 20:46 GMT14
Since I installed a hot water heater 10 years ago I had occasional
problems getting hot water for a bath. It would come out hot for the
first few gallons, then slowly gets cooler until it is so cool I
needed to turn it off to keep the water I have, comfortably warm. Only
Forced air heater problem31 Jan 2008 20:45 GMT2
Hopefully someone here can give me some ideas on what might be wrong
with my Day and Night heater (about 10 years old). Every few days it
fails to come completely on and it flashes a Ignition Proving Failure
warning message. But the other 98% of the time it works perfectly.

Older electric range controls?31 Jan 2008 20:30 GMT5
I was just thinking about electric ranges and wondering how the
controls for the heating elements actually work. Does anyone know?
They can't be variable resistors because they would dissipate too much
power. They obviously aren't variable autotransformers. They can't be

KitchenAid Dishwasher Runs Too Long31 Jan 2008 19:38 GMT7

Amana Air Command 80 Gas Fired Furnace (4 blinks) troubleshooting31 Jan 2008 19:31 GMT58
Can you help me troubleshoot my Amana Air Command 80 gas-fired furnace?
1. Today it stopped heating the house; three red blinks were visible.
The instructions say this means the "pressure switch is stuck open".
2. I could see the "top" (smaller" motor wasn't spinning) but the bottom
Swipe Card Lock for my House31 Jan 2008 14:53 GMT27
I need to install a swipe card lock for the front door of my house. I
do not know of any good models or much about these locks period. I was
wondering if anyone could tell me of any reliable models. I need one
that is reliable, would look good on a front door, and could handle

HELP!!!  Leak in water service lateral!31 Jan 2008 12:37 GMT18
Hi all;
I just discovered a leak in my water service lateral between the meter
and the shut-0ff valve where the pipe enters the house.  It looks like
the buried pipe makes a straight shot from the meter to the valve, as
Electrical switch capacity?31 Jan 2008 09:29 GMT5
I bought a double pole switch for my router table.  It says it can handle
20a/240v or 35a/120v.
Why would each pole be able to handle only 20a on 240v (with 120v on each
pole) but 35a on 120v?  Or does it assume you are connecting the 120v to
