Water heater failure - ruined flooring25 Dec 2007 21:11 GMT15
Finishing my basement. Regardless of whether I put carpet or
engineered hardwood, I don't want the flooring to be ruined (or be a
bed for mold growth) if the water heater decides to go, which will
eventually happen (10 years old now).  I've heard horror stories of
basic plumbing--drains25 Dec 2007 19:08 GMT4
I am renovating my bathroom.I want to move my bathtub about 6 feet out
from the wall. My intention is to just tie the new drain into the old
line where it ties into the main stack draining down into the
basement. Is there a problem with this?I also want to build a seperate
Fridge filter question25 Dec 2007 17:23 GMT13
I have a Kenmore (discovered it was made by Frigidaire when I googled Model
#).  The red light came on for filter, and the water comes out slower.
When you open up the fridge door, it's on the upper right.  You press a
triangular tab on the corner, and the filter apparently comes ...
Heat pump question25 Dec 2007 16:56 GMT6
What is the operating temperature range for a heat pump?  Mainly the low
end.  I know heat pumps work by heat transfer, even from cold air, but what
is the lowest outside temperature before their efficiency starts to drop
off?
How to remove burned bark?25 Dec 2007 14:46 GMT26
My landscaping was caught in the San Diego Firestorm. The house survived but
the trunks of several Queen palms and Eucalyptus trees (all with a diameter
from 15" to 24") were charred. They will probably survive but they look very
unattractive with charred wood reaching up to 10 ...
Paint Thinner Prices25 Dec 2007 14:20 GMT34
The last time I bought a gallon of mineral spirits (about 18 months ago,
I believe) it cost $2.50.  That was very high I thought at the time.
Yesterday in Lowe's, I noticed the cheapest brand was selling for $8.00!
Is there any reason for this other than plain greed and price ...
CFL bulbs in ceiling fan?25 Dec 2007 06:33 GMT15
Will they withstand the vibration, or should I continue using regular
bulbs in the fan light? I've never found the specialized fan bulbs to
be worth it.
Thanks for advice.
I Want OUT With My Builder!!!25 Dec 2007 03:56 GMT47
Phase I of my home remodel has demonstrated that the contractor is
completely incompetant and difficult to work with.  At this point, I'd
like to somehow "nullify" the contract and get my money back, minus a
fair amount to cover what's been done so far.  Per the contract, we're

Michael Lalonde went swimming with James Armstrong on a passenger jet

his head on a wall which caused an avalanche, he grabbed the detonator

Baseboard heater Causes Dirty Wall?24 Dec 2007 23:58 GMT5
There is an area of dark gray dirt film on the wall over an 8'
electric baseboard heater in my dining room. Was this caused by the
heating unit? How? It doesn't burn carbon.
Thanks,
Pool Heat Pump - Low H2O Error Message24 Dec 2007 23:19 GMT3
I haven't used my pool heat pump in a few months and when I recently turned
it on I am getting a Low H2O error message and it is not starting up.
Usually that message is displayed when the pool pump is off but now I see it
when the pool pump is on as well.
