rebuilding old valves?12 Dec 2007 23:12 GMT12
next on my "to do" list is to replace/rebuild two shutoff valves serving
two outside spigots.  They don't shut off anymore, meaning that I hope
that I don't get any really cold weather prior to getting this fixed, as
I can't drain the pipe going through the cinder block basement ...
Saw blade choice for Flex moulding?12 Dec 2007 22:00 GMT4
I have occasion to cut baseboard  flex moulding. It is urethane, dense
and just kills my saw blades. The maker states on the web a general
comment about using any saw blade. I called them and a got generic
answer. "we use a spatula", but any blade will work....

I turn it on lately, it works fine for 2-10 min., then freezes.
The little light that is supposed to come on for beat 1 when
Need Info on interior door code12 Dec 2007 16:57 GMT3
I am framing for an interior door in my basement.  Someone was telling
me that Ontario code says there has to be 2 top plates when
framing ?   I asked around and others didn't seem to think so.  It's
not a load bearing door at all.   Does anyone know for certain if an
Rubber Bumper for Shed12 Dec 2007 16:49 GMT30
My kids (2.5 boys), ride their trikes down the driveway (a small, safe
incline) and use my shed to stop the ride. Eventually, they are going
to damage the wooden door.
Any thoughts about what I could use to prolong the life of the shed
Heater Hustlers from Canton again: HEAT SURGE Roll-n-Glow Fireplace12 Dec 2007 16:48 GMT1
Well, it's the silly season. My local paper just ran a full-page ad
for the HEAT SURGE Roll-n-Glow Fireplace. It is an electric heater
disguised as a fireplace ("fireless flame") and sold wrapped in a
"real Amish fireplace mantel". Wow!

I "inherited" this item from someone moving out of town.

tiles are not lined up perfectly straight. Only like an 1/8" max in

"Rumble" noise from Kenmore electric dryer12 Dec 2007 04:35 GMT10
I have a 20 year old Kenmore electric dryer (essentially a Whirlpool).  It's
held up pretty good overall.  About 4 years ago the motor wouldn't turn, so
I replaced the motor along with the rollers, belt, and front and back
bearings.  Everything has been working fine since then ...
Getting the Ducts Cleaned12 Dec 2007 04:25 GMT8
Is it beneficial to get the air ducts in your house cleaned?  Seems
the heat isn't distributing through our house all that great.   could
it need a duct cleaning or would this be something else?

I am in a desperate need for suggestions on an alternative to a
standard gutter system...
We had gutters installed on our home about 3 years ago. Behind our
house is a slight incline so a good Alabama summer rain made a pond
