| Question re: ac/heating return vent | 15 Dec 2007 19:11 GMT | 3 |
A few years ago, I had my house retrofitted with a whole house ac system. The evaporator/heater unit is located in the second floor of my house. It is a 4 ton unit for a 1700 square foot house. The system works well except for one annoying thing. Because the return

| bundling 12/2 romex up through walls and through studs -- how many? | 15 Dec 2007 18:46 GMT | 14 |
I want to run a number of new circuits onto a single long wall. There will be 6 or 7 circuits total on a wall that's about 50'. They will all use 12/2 from 20A breakers and feed new 20A receptacles. Right now I only know of one good path from the basement to the 2nd

| HVAC custom-size air filters | 15 Dec 2007 06:26 GMT | 11 |
Can someone recommend a source for custom-size air filters for residential HVAC? I need 1"x25"x22" filters, and the closest sizes I've seen (at my local WalMart, HomeDepot, Lowe's) were 1x25x25 and 1x25x20.

| snapping a chalk line on studs | 15 Dec 2007 05:21 GMT | 10 |
I'm putting up lap siding on a garden shed I'm building. I'm trying to snap a line across the studs of a standing wall to align the siding courses. It's the way I've read it's done, snap a line between your marks on the story poles.

Bought a single stage blower from Sears last year (fall 06) used 1 winter Now I noticed that the auger has no more rubber at ends of blades. Is this much wear normal? or was I over estimating the amt. of rubber on the unit. Sears has no part# for the rubber paddles .

| HVAC thermostats work in parallel? | 15 Dec 2007 03:02 GMT | 7 |
My bedroom temperature varies too much compared to the rest of the house. It's colder in the winter and hotter in the summer. The thermostat for that part of the house is on the other side of the living room next to the guest bedrooms. Playing with the vents hasn't helped.

In my house - which I've owned for about 18 months now, there's a fireplace with a natural gas burning log set... wifey and I were looking at it last night, trying to figure out if it actually threw any heat - or was it purely for the nice-fire-burning-atmosphere...

| Request for advice: Can I cut a groove out of plaster wall | 14 Dec 2007 17:47 GMT | 11 |
I have a room that was formerly two rooms. The house is 70-90 years old. The walls are plaster. Between the damage from knocking out the wall, and the 7 different plaster textures that exist in the now single room, I figure it would be easier to put up strapping and mount

| Fridge compartment doesn't keep cold. | 14 Dec 2007 15:45 GMT | 14 |
This is a recurring problem that appears regularly in this newsgroup. My 30 year old Moffat fridge acted up again. The fridge compartment won't get cold enough and the milk curdles. The veggies yellow faster. I don't eat the usual packaged foods so there's no problem of
