Any ideas for a curtain ...09 Oct 2006 22:41 GMT9
I want to put up a curtain in our kitchen to keep the cats off of the
countertop. I'm planning to use thin nylon net and the curved thin pipes for
a standalone tub shower curtain. I don't think this can be the best way ...
I probably should post a drawing?
flooring demo09 Oct 2006 22:24 GMT5
Hi. I will be having some flooring work done in my home and I wanted to
get some opinions regarding the cost before I have contractors come in
and give estimates. Here's what I've got...

Shapes out of plaster?09 Oct 2006 22:14 GMT8
I had recently asked a question about what tread brackets might be made
out of and someone recommended plaster.
Does plaster come in a sheet that you can cut or is it a paste that you
can shape?
Plaster wall repair09 Oct 2006 21:21 GMT7
I recently had my basement remodeled and the contractor put in plaster
(hard coat) walls instead of drywall. It was put in over blue board and
has small, textured swirls in it. I have a small indentation in one of
the walls caused by a door knob being pushed into it. My question is
Concrete step removal / replacement09 Oct 2006 20:40 GMT7
I have some concrete steps in the den that used to be exterior steps into a
breezeway. The previous owner converted the breezeway into a den and I'm
redoing the room now.  The steps have an 11" rise and I want to replace
them with 6" rise steps.
Tracing Circuit Breaker to Receptacle Outlets09 Oct 2006 20:31 GMT33
I'd like to know if there is an easier way to trace which circuit
breaker control which outlets.

Oven safe ceramic repair?09 Oct 2006 20:18 GMT1
Anybody able to identify readily available ceramic adhesive that will
stand up to oven temperatures?  I know of several
manufacturing-available possibilities, not had much luck on anything
easily available in small quantities at the retail level.
Kitchen cabinet makeover09 Oct 2006 19:37 GMT16
My kitchen cabinets are about 15 years old. The frames and doors
are solid wood (oak?) although the end panels appear to be veneered
plywood. They were apparently finished with an oil-based poly and
do have an ambered appearance.
Tecumseh Snowblower:  Oil For ?09 Oct 2006 19:20 GMT7
Live outside of Boston.
Gets cold here, but nothing like Minn. or N. Dakota !
Ariens site is down, and can't find the Tecumseh Manual that I once had.
For their typical 7.5 H.P. Snowblowers with the Tecumseh engine, what's the
What belongs under tile?09 Oct 2006 19:16 GMT10
Under the disgusting carpet in my living room, I've got hardwood floors.
Since part of the room serves as the "lose the shoes" zone, I'm tired of
trying to keep the carpet clean. So, I'm thinking of installing some sort of
tile or slate in that area - something easy to just mop ...
Fridge clicks but dosen't run...09 Oct 2006 19:10 GMT3
My trusty old GE refrigerator is having a problem:
I can hear a clicking sound every few moments from the lower back side
of the unit, but the compressor does not kick in like it always has
before.
Soft spot on wall09 Oct 2006 18:15 GMT4
I recently bought a house that has all the main bedrooms in the basement.
You can see the foundation wall in all of the bedrooms. It acts as a ledge.
All the walls are finished and there appears to be drywall overtop of the
foundation wall.
Fluorescent amperage09 Oct 2006 18:12 GMT16
How much current is drained by a 2x 40 watt T12 magnetic ballasted
shop light trough at peak current draw?  I assume this is at startup,
while trying to saturate the transformer and ignite the tubes.  How
much
Replace a gas insert with a wood-burning insert09 Oct 2006 17:16 GMT4
We recently bought a house and want to replace the gas insert with a
wood-burning one.  The gas insert vents out the side of the house --
about 6' above the fire box.  I imagine this will be a problem.  What I
wonder is: can it be done without building a flue to the roof?  We live
