Leaking steel pipe - how to fix01 Nov 2006 00:32 GMT11
I have a leaking steel pipe that supplies warm water to radiators in my house.
A plumber dropped by and said it would be easiest to cut the bad part away and
weld a replacement. The pipe is about 2 inches thick.
The replacement is about two feet.
Running wire to freestanding building31 Oct 2006 23:13 GMT13
A friend was complaining last night about how major repairs often come in
clusters, when you can least afford them. The latest: It seems the AC wire
to her freestanding garage has rotted away. The installation's probaby 50
years old.  The BX cable comes out of the ground right at ...
Need a few individual wooden fence planks31 Oct 2006 22:58 GMT8
Hi, I have a wooden stockade fence on my property. A few individual
planks were damaged by a falling tree. I would like to fix the fence,
but home depot only sells the fence in large sections. I don't have the
tools to fabricate my own. Are there any internet sites that would sell

I'd be happy to share the results, only need 100 responses and
Telephone lines: going from 2 to 131 Oct 2006 21:56 GMT10
I would be grateful for any assistance with the following:
Until about a month ago we had two conventional telephone lines in our
home.  We recently removed a business line from our home phone network,
and now have one residential line. The business line had a 482
Ground current through water main/meter31 Oct 2006 21:54 GMT20

An amp-probe reveals between 2 and 6 amps, depending on how balanced the

Noisy refrigerator31 Oct 2006 21:51 GMT8
I have determined that the compressor is the cause of my noisy
refrigerator.  It clunks as it turns on & off.  What effect does this
have upon the operation of the refrigerator other than being noisy?
Can this cause higher than normal electricity consumption?
framing and plywood sheathing on houses31 Oct 2006 20:50 GMT2
I'm ripping out all my drywall in my basement so that I can put up
insulation, run new wires, and then put on new drywall.  After ripping the
drywall off with a crowbar I noticed that there were spiders amongus in the
framing which makes me wonder where they came from.  I suspect ...
Boy, am I in the wrong line of work .........31 Oct 2006 20:01 GMT63
Yesterday, our large Whirlpool self cleaning oven quit working.  That is,
the electronic panel on it went black, and the latch that holds it shut
during cleaning engaged partially.  We can still open it with a fork, but
the oven or clock or electronics won't work.
Little hot water from the shower faucet31 Oct 2006 19:24 GMT11
Hello.  Our shower has a Delta faucet with a single handle.  This was
an upgrade from a tub to a tub and shower so the diverter is not on the
spout but just below the handle.  Recently we've experienced a drop in
water pressure as you call for more hot water.  This happens whether

Within a few minutes I realized I had turned the gas off so I turned it
Generator Got A Little Workout -- Sort of31 Oct 2006 17:15 GMT8
Winds knocked out the power about noon.  We didn't have a clue as to
how much propane is burned during an outage, so we scaled back the oil
furnace, shut-off computer, kept the TV off.  No lights.  Power was
out four hours. We did use water (well is powered by electric) and
Gas Dryer Vent31 Oct 2006 16:47 GMT3
Guys, having a problem deciding on whether it is ok to use an under the
