What price range can I expect for having someone come in and sheetrock,
including finish and sanding just the walls in a room it will take exactly
10 full sheets and 1 sheet cut in half to do the job. Then taped /mudded and
sanded. thats all. I already have the materials and just ...
How far to push w/Painter12 May 2006 10:35 GMT11
We hired a painter to paint the interior trim in our house.  We'd used him
before and were happy with his work.
As part of this job, he was supposed to spray about 20 new solid pine 6
panel doors and 3 sets of solid 6 panel bifold doors I installed. Probably
More screwdrivers12 May 2006 08:12 GMT6
Awl--
Apropos of the fairly interesting thread on screwdrivers on ahr, I
dee-clared that the 4,5,6-in-1 'drivers I was crowing about do not accept
the 1/4" hex tips for screwgurns, multi-tipped drivers, chapman's, etc.
pressure relief valve releasing water12 May 2006 03:55 GMT16
Since last week every time someone takes a bath the T&P valve
discharges a small amount of water. When this happens, the water looks
a bit rusty. If I pull lever on the valve, the rusty water will drain
and for a day or so there'll be no more leaks, then it starts again. I

tappan self cleaning oven12 May 2006 03:29 GMT2
help.  I just purchased a home that has an older 5-7 years, Tappan self
cleaning oven.  I can't figure out how to start the self cleaning
process.  I place the first selector in clean, and the thermostat
selector in the clean position, then the sound of the door locking is
Dehumidifier Buildup not melting?12 May 2006 03:29 GMT4
My dehumidifier keeps frosting/icing up (very, very thick buildup) on the
coils and not melting and going into water pan. I currently wait until there
is quite a build up then turn if off, the buildup melts, then I turn the
unit back on again and repeat.
Finding a breaker12 May 2006 03:29 GMT15
I have to locate a breaker for an outlet, maybe two if they are are
separate breakers. I know where the panel(s) are, but not which breaker
controls the outlet. I can't shut off the breakers until I find it since
there is other equipment that I don't want to shut down.
Pressure Treated Lumber (PTL)12 May 2006 03:06 GMT6
Is it possible to find out if three year old deck lumber is PTL? Chemical
tests would easily do this but I don't have access to this. I need to find
out without chemical testing.
Peter.
DIY Roofing Problem (0/1)12 May 2006 03:05 GMT7
I have an investment property which needs some TLC inside and out, and
the first thing on the agenda is the roof. I am attaching a picture so
that you can see what it looks like.
As you can see, this is a hip roof with a lot of valleys and angles.
Renovating a small bathroom12 May 2006 02:58 GMT3
We live in a 1BR/1BA condo in Los Angeles.  The bathroom is from the
70s and is in desperate need of a makeover.  It is a little too big of
a job to undertake by myself.  We want a contracter to do it.  Where
can I get educated so when I talk to a contracter I dont get raked over
flooring problems12 May 2006 02:24 GMT6
I have to replace some flooring in a bathroom and bedroom because of
small leak in the wall.  Floor joists are fine.  I plan to use 1/2 "
plywood for subfloor but not sure about floor.  The bedroom old floor
was particle board and the bathroom was 3/4 inch plywood. I will be
Trex or Pressure Treated Fence12 May 2006 02:19 GMT2
I have an older pressure treated fence around a pool and the top plate
(2 x 6 with a 2 x 4 at 90 degrees) is in need of replacement.  Thinking
of using Trex (or a similar substitute) in lieu of pressure treated and
eventually replacing all the fence with the same material.  Does ...
Lawn edgers?12 May 2006 02:06 GMT24
I am thinking about buying a lawn edger.  I have a corner lot, so quite
a bit of sidewalk to edge, plus several flower beds.
So far, I have seen an electric edger, a manual rolling one, and the
standard "half-moon" type (sort of like a flat hoe).
home design software recommendations?12 May 2006 01:53 GMT4
I'm designing a garage addition for the house and would like
recommendations for design software.  I've tried:
IMSI Floorplan (horrible)
Punch 4000 (nice but for some odd reason doesn't support a first floor
