Blown Dimmer Switch31 May 2006 22:42 GMT9
I have a dimmer switch installed for the bathroom light at my cottage.
The light fixture itself has 6 small 25W lightbulbs. For the past three
years, the dimmer has worked perfectly. Three weeks ago the dimmer
stopped dimming and could only be used to switch on and off. I replaced
cooling upstairs with ac - it's too hot31 May 2006 22:21 GMT9
Can anyone offer suggestions as to how I can get the upstairs cooler, the ac
works great on the first floor but it stays too darn hot in the bedrooms
upstairs. I have a 2,300 sq ft colonial.
Thanks for any help!

Garage door remotes31 May 2006 21:34 GMT3
Will different brands of remotes work if frequency is the same?
What latitude of frequency is tolerated?

AC condenser comb31 May 2006 21:12 GMT5
I've actually used a *comb* on automotive radiators with marginal
results, but the fins on an a residential AC condenser are much closer
together.
They sell the combs for condesners, but do they work?
New AC unit31 May 2006 20:36 GMT1
The AC unit in our house is probably 20 years old and it is weak both
in cooling and in blower volume.
I'm thinking of replacing it and wanted to get in the ballpark for what
I need.

Clever Window Well Idea:  Is this allowed?31 May 2006 20:06 GMT13
We are finishing our basement and have a problem with one of our window
wells.  If we cut it out to spec, then it protrudes directly into our
driveway (which is already narrow).  We have thought of a couple
solutions and would like to hear advice or opinions.
Jetted Bathtubs: the source of a leak?31 May 2006 18:06 GMT1
Hi, there.  I've a water stain on the ceiling.  There's a bathroom on
the floor above.  For the life of me I can't find any obvious source of
the leak.
I've a jetted bathtub.  I see the plastic cap (with a hole in the
Ceiling fan motor hot?31 May 2006 17:37 GMT3
Just installed a new ceiling fan.....the fan works fine but after it runs

Is this anything to be concerned about?  We are hoping the paint burning
GRANITE PROBLEM31 May 2006 17:33 GMT6
We recently had a granite countertop installed - unfortunately the island
slab had a gouge and 2 scratches.  I complained to the installer and they
have tried to repair these.  The surface of their repair is smooth but I
can see the impressions below the surface where the repair was ...
screening an AC unit to keep out debris from the cooling fins31 May 2006 17:27 GMT4
Yesterday I spent most of 3 hours hosing and picking out cottonwood
fuzz and other debris from the cooling fins of my 2 outdoor AC units. I
usually do this once a year after the cottonwood stops. I missed last
year. I was thinking of using screen door like mesh to wrap around the

Recently, we had a few double-pane windows replaced by the window
manufacturer.
They used double-sided tape to keep the windows in place within the
plastic frames.
