Hydronic Unit heater motor question.04 Dec 2003 02:32 GMT10
Hoping someone can offer some guidance. I do want to state that I will not
be doing the work myself but will have a licensed electrician replace the
motor in my unit heater if it is a good option. I am asking here instead of
playing phone tag with the electrician and waiting two ...
Bryant furnace failure04 Dec 2003 00:56 GMT5
My model 376CAV downflow furnace fails to provide heat. When the
thermostat calls for heat the main blower comes on immediately, but the
Draft Inducer blower does not come on, nor does the Hot surface ignitor
come on. I have replaced the control circuit board, yet the unit ...

hotpoint washer fill problem04 Dec 2003 00:25 GMT11
I have a hotpoint washer, not a newer model, which won't fill unless the body of the drainage hose is elevated higher than the desired water level.
For example, if the drainage hose is left at ground level, the washer won't fill; it will try to fill, but the water shoots straight ...
Energy efficient window wrap?03 Dec 2003 20:46 GMT3
I heard there is some kind of plastic wrap you can put on your windows
to increase energy efficiency. My basement window makes the basement
very cold, if a stiff wind comes up you can actually feel it through the
window! Where do you buy this window wrap stuff, and what's it called

Kitchen Exhaust Fan03 Dec 2003 17:55 GMT8
I have a kitchen exhaust fan that's in a hood above the
stove. It's attached to an exhaust pipe that is supposed
to take the air up out of the house through the roof. I
took the fan/hood down so that I could paint around it. I
Compost pile and "treated wood"03 Dec 2003 16:49 GMT6
Can I make the walls for my compost pile from "green treated" or
"wolmanized" wood. Or would the wood leech dangerous chemicals into
the compost?
Vapor barrier under carpet?  What to use03 Dec 2003 16:07 GMT6
I had some building plans prepared by an architect.  He called for a
vapor barrier to be put under the carpeting that is on ground level
and has a concrete base.  What type of product should I use?  Just
clear plastic film?

Smoke with gas logs after installation?03 Dec 2003 14:56 GMT3
We just had new vented gas logs installed this evening in our house in a
non-prefab wood fireplace.  A professional installed it and said that the
smell from the gas would disappear.  However after we had it on for 15
minutes or so and left it on for about 4 hours it smoked a great ...
How to repair chandelier03 Dec 2003 14:53 GMT2
I've got a low-end chandelier that has four upside-down globes; each
globe has a 60 watt bulb inside.
The bulb in the socket inside one of the globes is wobbling around in
the socket, causing the light to flicker.
