What brand of clothes dryer is best15 Dec 2003 10:55 GMT6
Our clothes dryer broke and I am going to have a repairman check it out if I can get one out quickly. If the repair is not too costly, I'll have it repaired. Otherwise we are considering a newer washer-dryer set.
Can anyone suggest what brand(s) are the best and which to avoid. I ...
Fake Lawn on Wood Deck15 Dec 2003 10:54 GMT10
I know it's a total redneck solution but I want to rainproof under the
deck and improve traction on the shady mossy slippery surface on the
deck. There is no frost here... mild climate.
If I use 6 mil black plastic liner and a staple gun will that work? I
Crawl Space Insulation15 Dec 2003 06:37 GMT3
I read the insulation discussion from tonite with great interest. Quite
frankly, I am tired of writing $250+/month checks to our gas company during
winter to heat our 2200 sq. ft. ranch house.   We live in Indianapolis in a
brick ranch style home built in the 1940's or 50's.  It is ...
Gouged on repair part by appliance repair company?15 Dec 2003 04:02 GMT14
My Kenmore refrigerator quit cooling.  I called an appliance repair
company.  The tech said I needed a new "pc board."  I don't know why he
called it that, except it sounds more ominous than "defroster timer,"
which it really was, and was even so identified on the box that he
Stuck gas-range burner valves15 Dec 2003 03:59 GMT3
3 of the 4 burner valves on my 20 yr. old Kenmore (Roper/Whirlpool -
model: 103.7858012) gas range have become stuck in the "off" position.
They did not become progressively more difficult to turn, they just
"froze" one day...(not the same day). The valves are easy to get to
stainless steel colored paint ?15 Dec 2003 03:03 GMT4
I am interested in making my fridge look like it was stainless.  I
know it can be painted with appliance paint to another color, but is
there a color or type of paint that will make it look like stainless ?
Thanks
HVAC - heat pump replacement15 Dec 2003 01:09 GMT3
My heat pump recently broke and I would like to replace it.  Does anyone
have an opinion of the lenox, trane and carrier brands? Also, is a variable
speed air handler worth the additional cost?
Thanks
Need help with Vent Problem with gas boiler15 Dec 2003 00:32 GMT4
Hello, We bought a house and just moved in and noticed that the
propaine gas fired Boiler is vented horizontally  out from basement to
the outside with pipe and terminating on the outside a few feet from
the ground level. The house is a 1 story ranch and the pipe terminates
Is this common procedure ? Help15 Dec 2003 00:29 GMT4
I am in the process of purchasing a 28X80 multiple section home (double
wide) . I am wondering if it is common for the dealers to not include the
A/C , skirting, pier installation and the stinking dryer hose hookup ?
Just wondering if this is common or is it at the dealers ...
Water Cooler Gunk14 Dec 2003 22:20 GMT2
I noticed a clear, gelatinous substance hanging from the spigot of my water
cooler today.
Any idea on what this could be?
Cinder block footer14 Dec 2003 22:19 GMT6
Had shed put in and I did not realize the slope was so large.
To level, 1x8x16 cynder blocks were purchased ahead of time.  I did not
think the contractor would need to stack as high.
I have about 8 of these stacked for one side of the shed to keep level. (3
Flashing Roof14 Dec 2003 21:54 GMT1
I had a 2nd story brick wall replaced and since it sits on a roof the
roof flashing next to it was affected.  The mason was careful and able
to save the roof flashing but the overflashing from the brick wall
which covers the roof flashing was lost and needed replacement.
Oil Fired Hot Water Boiler Question14 Dec 2003 21:10 GMT1
My current oil fired boiler [for baseboard heating] is a little over a
year old. It is the HMT model, manufactured by international comfort
products in Canada. I know this may not mean much to people out there,
but perhaps a few may be familiar with it.
what's a "load control bypass"?14 Dec 2003 20:13 GMT2
No problems, but I'm just curious:  What's a "load control bypass"?
That's the label on clear plastic cover of 8" dia round cast metal box
attached low on a wall outside our house.   The box is located a foot
from our heat pump condenser.  Thru the cover I can see 4 rather heavy
Refrigerator Dripping Inside14 Dec 2003 20:07 GMT3
I have a 2 year old Whirlpool Gold series refrigerator that does not have a
dispenser water hookup but has recently started dripping from the freezer into
the refrigerator. In the freezer there is a plastic funnel in front of the fan,
it seems the water may be coming from the fan ...
