Was hoping someone here could give me some suggestions on what to look for /
what to fix...
Have a very light buzzing sound in one room of my house.  It sounds very

Electrical mystery04 Nov 2003 18:37 GMT8
I recently experienced an electrical phenomenon that I can't explain.
1. The circuit is a 20 amp branch using #12 conductor that feeds a
GFCI duplex outlet that is used primarily for a washing machine. There
are no other outlets on this branch.

What is a good mailbox04 Nov 2003 16:09 GMT15
U.S. Mail delivery person (used to be a Mailman) is mentioning to all the
people on the block that we get a larger and more secure mailbox.  All kinds
of things come to mind about secure.  Does any place make and or sell a
mailbox that you can bolt to the side of the house that ...

I just had new windows installed in my home.  They are double hung,
the bottom one slides up and the top one slides down.  My problem is

Light Bulbs04 Nov 2003 15:02 GMT17
I read some past posts on light bulbs burning out frequently but I
think this is a new twist.  About two years ago I lived in an older
house and I experienced my light bulbs burning out very frequently.  I
posted the question and got some good feedback including "long life

My sprinklers were put right next to my cedar fence. Where the fence
got wet, it turned grey. I applied tompson's water seal, but it didn't
help the already grey area.
Home Depot told me that to put any stain on the fence, I would first

Which space heaters are the best? How about the ones that use oil?04 Nov 2003 09:46 GMT3
I have had terrible luck with space heaters. Airwork's fans seem to go
in a few months. Is there a way to oil electric fan motors. They make
quite a noise. Have to turn them upside down to get noise to stop. How
about the radiator type heaters that use oil instead of water . I
Extracting video from VHS recorde04 Nov 2003 09:12 GMT6
Hi, I've got an old knackered VHS recorder that has a tape stuck in it and I
was wondering if there's any trick to getting it back out without applying
electricity or whether I have to dismantle it completely. It's a real cheapy
so I can't really give any more info about make and ...
fireplace insert recommendations04 Nov 2003 08:42 GMT6
I have a gas fireplace that is essentially useless for warming up the
great room of my house.  With the coming winter, the wife wants
something to replace it and I was hoping there may be some
recommendations for fireplace inserts or something like that.  We were
Concrete slab over sandstone?04 Nov 2003 05:29 GMT4
I'm going to build a small (11' x 9') shed in my back yard and have some
questions about pouring a concrete slab for it to sit on...
The dirt is only about 4 inches deep, then I hit solid & relatively flat
sandstone.  The sandstone is soft enough that I can gouge a groove in it
